NF/830104 Page 1. This is a demonstration of the CR8 SYSTEM INSTALLATION DISK. The disk will enable distribution to a CR8 customer of any Digital Research Operating System, such as: - CP/M - MP/M II - CP/M-86 - MP/M-86 It will also serve as a collection of system utilities for later use. NF/830104 Page 2. Features include: Winchester Disk Formatting -------------------------- This option is provided in case the operating system is being installed on a new unformatted disk. Also, the Installation Floppy may later serve as a Hard Disk formatting utility. System Track Installation ------------------------- Specific files to be placed in the two system tracks of any/all Hard Disk drives can be included on the Installation Floppy. These files would typically contain an operating system in itself (in the case of CP/M Vers. 2.2, or SCRIMP/M for the 8088 operating systems), or a loader that will later bring up the operating system from a file (in the case of MP/M II and MP/M-86). Also, this option will later serve as a 'GETPUT' utility for new generations of System Track Images. NF/830104 Page 3. Help Display ------------ This is the ability to display a given text file included on the Installation Floppy. The file would be specific to the operating system installation at hand, i.e. it would explain the steps required to install e.g. MP/M-86 if that was the goal of that specific Installation Floppy. File Copying ------------ This copying utility will copy all files with type SYS (e.g. *.SYS) (with or without SYS attrib) from the Floppy to a Hard Disk drive to be selected by the user (typically drive A: for MP/M-86 and drive B: for MP/M II). NF/830104 Page 4. This demonstration disk can install a version of MP/M II on Drive D. To do this, Your Drive D must not contain anything valuable in its System Tracks. Furthermore, You will get a file named MPM.SYS on Your disk. To test the installation, You must boot from Drive D. NOTE: Your CR8 must contain the Version 3.0 BOOT PROM. It must be equiped with a 10 Megabyte Winchester Disk, and the address decoders for MP/M II. NF/830104 Page 5. H A V E F U N . «eof»
