MEDIUM SPEED PRINTER L/DE/GW
INTRODUCTION The Medium Speed Printer is a Receive Only
Device with microprocessor controlled Printing
facilities for Hard Copies of received Messages.
It perates in half duplex and receives Data
Signals from a Fiber Options Signal Line.
These data signals are interfaced in an Optical
Modem.
INDICATORS OH 1 The Front Panel contains external Switches
CONTROLS P2-2 to control part of the operation o the Printer.
(Some internal swithes placed on circuit
cards controls other parts of operation.)
PRINTER OH 2
COMPONENTS P1-8 The installation drawing shows location of
OH2A components in the MSP. The installation of
P1-9 Optical Modem is emhasized with respect to
Optical Cable and Connections for Signal
Interface and Power (100 AC).
OH 3 The Printer Major Components, which will
P3-16 need regular maintenance, are the parts,
that - by physical movements - makes the
Printer able to rint out Hard copies.…86…1

SWITCH- OH 4 The Internal Switches make the Printer
SETTINGS P3-11 compatible with the interface in use.
ON CPU CCA (A2):
S1 determies the Baud Rate Strapping.
Four switches read by the Z80 are used to
select default Baud Rate on power up.
See table 3-2 in the manual.
On SIGNAL INTERFACE CCA (A10):
S1) determines the signal sense to be
Positive or Negative
Th signals: RD (Receive Data)
SD (Sends Data)
RT (Receive Timing)
ST (Send Timing)
TT (Terminal Timing)
S2) determines the Parity and number of Stop-Bits.
See table 3-3 in the anual.

PRINTER OH 5 The Central Processor Unit is the device
FUNCTIONS P3-1 that controls the MSP. It contains a Z80
processer, a micro program nd some memory.
Data are received via the signal Interface
from the optical modem.
The printer Interface Processes data from
the CPU and convert data into the necessary
drive signals for printing and paper advance.
CHARACTER OH 6 Printing haracters onto paper is done
PRINTING P3-14 by the printhead.
Printwires are led to the Printhead Jewel
and arranged in two columns.
A character consist of 7 columns by 9 rows
area where any printwire activated will print
a dot.
Rows 8& permit printing chars with portion
extending below the line (descenders).…86…1
