This document contains preliminary equipment data and
requirements, which should support Host Nation's preliminary
site design of CAMPS Remote Terminal installations.

2.1 S̲Y̲S̲T̲E̲M̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲C̲E̲P̲T̲
The CAMPS Remote Terminal (CRT) concept provides a
V24 connection between the main CAMPS site and a remote
site. Of the 8 channel connections available at each
remote site, 4 are used to support 2 VDUs and 2 MSPs,
one is used for an OCR connection and 3 are auxiliary
channels.
The equipment associated with the CRT is depicted in
figure 2.1. Eight channels of the main site are transmitted
over a single communications line by using statistical
multiplexers (Stat.mux) at each end of the crypto/modem
lines.
At the main sites, the CRT line connections are made
in the CRT Line termination racks which contain the
LTUXs, crates etc. (see figure 2.1, sheet 2).
At the remote sites, connections to the terminals are
made by opto-links while connections to the auxiliary
channels and the OCR are V28(L) links. (See figure
2.1, sheet 3).

a) The CRT equipment for both the main and remote
locations will be installed by CR at the same time
they install the main CAMPS equipment. (please
refer to the main site installation schedule).
b) Civil works requirements (space, power etc.) necessary
to prepare both the main and remote site will be
incorporated in a single civil works requirement
(CWR) package for the corresponding main-site.
The As-To-Be-Built and As-Built documentation
for the affected main site will be expanded by
CR to incorporate the CRT equipment at main and
remote locations.

a) At each main site CR will provide and install a
CRT-rack (at Proto 2 CRT-racks are required) in
the Camps room. (refer to fig. 2.1)
The rack(s) will be bolted to the 3-bay line termination
rack assembly (D,E,F).- The rack(s) will be designated
as rack G,(H).
b) SHAPE will provide and install:
1) One 19 inch rack containing a red patch jack
field (RPJF), a B-1000 crypto, and a B-1000/14
isolator panel.
2) One 19 inch rack containing a black patch jack
field (BPJF) and a MODEM.
c) The signal cable and connections from the filter
box (IDF) of rack F to the RPJF, from the RPJF
to the Crypto/isolator, from the Crypto/isolator
to the BPJF, from the BPJF to the MODEM and from
the MODEM to the Main Distribution Frame (MDF)
will be provided and installed by SHAPE/Territorial
Host Nation (see figure 2.1).
Rack G(H) requires a secure ground and pink power
from the CAMPS power distribution board. SHAPE/Territorial
Host Nation will provide this power and ground
in accordance with the CWR for each site.
3.2 E̲Q̲U̲I̲P̲M̲E̲N̲T̲ ̲A̲T̲ ̲R̲E̲M̲O̲T̲E̲ ̲L̲O̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
a) At remote locations (PHQ) CR will provide and install
a CRT-rack and the contractually specified number
of user terminals. (TYPICALLY 2 VDUs and 2 MSPs).
This equipment will be installed in rooms designated
by SHAPE/Local Commands.
b) The signal cable and connections from filter box
(IDF) of the CRT-rack to the RPJF, from the RPJF
to the crypto/isolator panel, from the crypto/isolator
panel to the BPJF, from the BPJF to the MODEM and
from the MODEM to the MDF will be provided and
installed by SHAPE/Territorial Host Nation.
c) The OCR connection and the three auxiliary V28(L)
connections to the filter box of the CRT-rack will
be provided and installed by SHAPE/Host Nation.
d) OPTO-cable and connections to user terminals (VDU's
and MSP's) will be provided and connected to the
CRT-rack and the terminals by CR.
SHAPE/Territorial Host Nation will run the opto-cables
between the CRT-rack and the terminals in conduits
or ducts provided and installed by SHAPE/Territorial
Host Nation.
f) The CRT-rack requires a secure ground and pink
power. SHAPE/Territorial Host Nation will provide
this power and ground in accordance with the CWR.
The user terminals will be supplied with power
(pink or black) and ground (secure or safety) from
SHAPE/Territorial Host Nation provided 3-pin outlets
in accordance with the CWR.

a) The CRT-rack installed at each main site is an
EMI-rack bolted to rack F. (refer to figure 4.1).
The CRT-rack is rack G.
b) Power to rack G is supplied via the PLF in rack
E. The power consumption of rack G is 1000 W maximum.
c) The physical data is given in table 4.1.
Mechanically the CRT-rack is identical to the other
main site racks.
d) The CRT signal cables enter through the IDF in
rack F (refer to figure 4.1).
