1.1      I̲n̲t̲r̲o̲d̲u̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲

The purpose of this document is to describe the function of the RDF-INIT procedure, which
initializes and lays out the incore part of the RDF-Table

1.2      A̲b̲b̲r̲e̲v̲i̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲

Please refer to FIKS DATA INTERFACE FIX/0100/MAN/0004.

3.1      F̲u̲n̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲a̲l̲ ̲C̲a̲p̲a̲b̲i̲l̲i̲t̲i̲e̲s̲

The procedure RDF-INIT will lay out and initialize the incore RDF-AREA as an extract of the
         disc-resident RDF-FILE.

The RDF-AREA is placed on a memory-page, in a specific location, both defined in critical
         region CONFIG.

CONFIG is after layout updated with next free location in the specified page.

3.2      I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲f̲a̲c̲e̲ ̲D̲e̲s̲c̲r̲i̲p̲t̲i̲o̲n̲

The RDF-INIT procedure uses two different interfaces:

         IO-System, for RDF-FILE access
         MON,REGION, for CONFIG access

3.2.1    The IO-SYSTEM is used to perform lookup upon and read from the RDF-FILE.

3.2.1.1  The following parts of the RDF-FILE is read:

         a)  NMTAB, N/M - INDEX table
         b)  ANOEX, ANO existance map
         c)  AIGEX, AIG existance map
         d)  ANOTAB (N/M - dependent) ANO to log. TERM.NO.
         e)  ALTTAB, log. TERM. NO. to act. TERM NO.

3.2.2    Call of MON, REGION is used for reading of and writing to critical region CONFIG

3.2.2.1  The following items are read from CONFIG:

o   NODE ̲ID; identification for this Node
         o   RDF ̲PAGE; page for RDF-AREA
o   TOP ̲OF ̲MEMORY; last used loc. in page

The following items are updated in CONFIG:

o   RDF ̲OFFSET; ref. to RDF-AREA in page
         o   RDF ̲SIZE, size of RDF-AREA
         o   TOP ̲OF ̲MEMORY; see above

3.3      P̲r̲o̲c̲e̲s̲s̲i̲n̲g̲

3.6      P̲e̲r̲f̲o̲r̲m̲a̲n̲c̲e̲ ̲C̲h̲a̲r̲a̲c̲t̲e̲r̲i̲s̲t̲i̲c̲s̲

The RDF-INIT program is run as a background process during system initialization. The program
         is removed after having run.

3.7      L̲i̲m̲i̲t̲i̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲

Critical Region CONFIG must exist when the program is run, and there must be sufficient space
left in the memory-page specified for the RDF-AREA.
