The Incoming Inspection Test (IIT) plan is made to
establish the facilities and procedures for incoming
inspection of CAMPS peripherals.
1.1 O̲b̲j̲e̲c̲t̲i̲v̲e̲
The objective of IIT is to:
- detect damaged equipment and accessories
- perform initial functional test.
- perform a functional test at high temperature.
- verify MTBF through a duration test which also
prevent later excessive field service problems.
1.2 R̲e̲s̲p̲o̲n̲s̲i̲b̲i̲l̲i̲t̲y̲
ILS will perform the inspection and test.
Q.A. will provide the test requirement.
The CAMPS project will provide special test requirements
if any.

The flow diagram describes the flow of peripherals
from the delivery of a consignment until repacked and
stored in the storage or returned to the vendor.

3.2 T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲P̲O̲R̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
3.2.1 D̲e̲l̲i̲v̲e̲r̲y̲
Units from ED will be delivered to ILS at Ballerup,
other units according to the various contracts will
be delivered by the shipping agency LEMAN. The
shipping
agency
generally
delivers
the
consignment
at
our
request
either
to
the
remote
storage
or
to
the
test-room.
This
transport
is
arranged
by
the
agency.
Package inspection will be carried out.
The header of the Incoming inspection Report-IKR is
filled in and the cartons marked with the relevant
IKR-Numbers.
3.2.2 L̲o̲c̲a̲l̲ ̲T̲r̲a̲n̲s̲p̲o̲r̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The local transport between the test room and the remote
storage will be carried out by "3 x 34".
3.2.3 H̲a̲n̲d̲l̲i̲n̲g̲
Unpacking will only take place in the test-room. When
a unit is unpacked a tag (T1) with the IKR-number is
attached to it, and it is assured that the carton is
marked with the same IKR-number.
The empty cartons are placed on the shelves in such
a way that the IKR-numbers are visible. The units are
arranged at the table or the shelf below.
3.3 V̲I̲S̲U̲A̲L̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
Visual inspection is performed according to appendix
1 to SD/STD/017 para 5 and para 6 (enclosed).
3.4 F̲U̲N̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
3.4.1 The functional test is described in the test procedure for the relevant equipment listed
in para 2 "Applicable Documents".

3.5 R̲E̲P̲A̲I̲R̲
3.5.1 Minor repair flow diagram is shown on fig. 3.1-2
3.5.2 Before any attempt to repair is made a fault analysis
is carried out. If the fault can be rectified by a
few solderings, adjustments, change of a single component
or change of PCB-modules this is carried out. After
it has been observed that the fault is corrected, the
unit is returned to resume the function-test.
If the above is insufficient to rectify the fault the
unit is passed to MRB for evaluation, see SD/STD/017.
3.6 B̲U̲R̲N̲-̲I̲N̲
To improve the future reliability a burn-in of 72 hours
duration at an environment temperature of 40…0e…0…0f…C will
be carried out in accordance with para 3.4.2.
During the burn-in a limited functional test is carried
out of each unit three times a day. If a fault is observed
the burn-in of the faulty unit is discontinued and
will restart after the repair.
3.7 R̲E̲S̲T̲O̲R̲E̲
The unit with accessories is packed in the relevant
cartons.
3.8 W̲A̲R̲R̲A̲N̲T̲Y̲ ̲C̲L̲A̲I̲M̲S̲
Warranty claims due to damages arising from transportation
shall be presented to the shipping agency or local
representative within the same day. Other warranty
claims shall be telexed to the ventor within 24 hours
of the discovery of the defects.

Of all the peripherals to be tested the V.D.U. has
the highest quantity of units of an adequate size and
was therefore chosen as a basis for the plan of the
interior arrangement in the test- and handling-room.
Due to the warranty of V.D.U.s it is convenient to
test these in batches of approx. 40.
The test and handling-room will be located in the basement
of building RO II. See Fig. 4.1-1.
FIGURE 1.1-1
4.1.2 F̲l̲o̲o̲r̲ ̲S̲p̲a̲c̲e̲ ̲A̲l̲l̲o̲c̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
One lot of V.D.U. (40 pc.) in cartons will occupy 1.8
x 4 m…0e…2…0f… of the floor as the stack is not to exceed 3
layers.
The packing/unpacking process requires approx. 6 m…0e…2…0f….
The entrance must be kept free and there must be room
for a trolley-table to pass around.
Room for parking of 2 trolley-tables is allocated.
4.1.3 T̲a̲b̲l̲e̲s̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲S̲h̲e̲l̲v̲e̲s̲
All tables and shelves are assembled of standard bars
and modules of 750 x 900 mm manufactures by "BV".
4.1.3.1 16 sections of tables are provided with a shelf below
the table top in a height of 15 cm above the floor
and are combined to one table 12 meter long which allows
successive test of 16 V.D.U.s.
Access to the rear of the V.D.U. under test is necessary,
therefore the table is placed 0.9 meters from the wall.
4.1.3.2 A table consisting of 8 sections without shelves is
used for temporary storage of 8 V.D.U.s. Below this
table on the floor is room for the 8 cartons from the
V.D.U.s above.
4.1.3.3 The shelf-rack for packing material is combined of
16 sections provided with 2 shelves. The lower shelf
is mounted 1.65 meters above the floor. The shelf-rack
is arranged in the spacing between the wall and the
table and will store 32 cartons.
4.1.3.4 The room lay-out is shown on fig. 4.1.
FIGURE 4.1
4.2 B̲U̲R̲N̲-̲I̲N̲-̲R̲O̲O̲M̲
The burn-in room is shown in fig. 4. This room will
be used for an extended test-run with the room temperature
controlled and increased above normal.
4.2.1 In the table below the heat dissipation through the
walls, floor and ceiling is given in KW/hour both for
the uninsulated room, a room with only the ceiling
insulated with 1" of glasswool and for the room insulated
with 5 cm glasswool on the walls and the ceiling.

6.2.1 I̲n̲s̲p̲e̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The unit is inspected for loose or missing screws,
knobs etc. and that there is no damage to the finishing.
The list of all accessories is checked and collated.
The unit is connected to the mains, and if it is not
workable as a stand-alone unit it is connected to test
equipment or connected as part of a system. The unit
is switched "on", and it is verified that it is functioning,
and that after approximately 15 minutes that no smoke,
excessive heat or smell is generated.
6.2.2 T̲e̲s̲t̲
The basis for the test is the functional test described
in para 3.4.
Additional to this test a verification of the claimed
MTBF is performed on a sample basis.
(For V.D.U.'s 10 samples out of 400 units will be used).
This verification is performed by running each sample
for a duration of the claimed MTBF.
