messages submitted to him for release since the last
periodic status report (Format Q1). Reference should
also be made to Figs. 27a and 27b.

The operator enters this line. When the system is
in rest mode with respect to the terminal, it shall
respond by transmitting the format lines B to H as
applicable. These are identical to those of Format
Q1 described in section 26.

This format will be employed periodically by the system
to inform a terminal operator of all transactions associated
with his terminal during the period elapsed since the
last periodic report.
The periodicity (time elapsed since last report) for
display shall be determined by the supervisor. The
transaction status can also be requested using format
R2.
Each logged transaction will be displayed according
to the log record printout described in section 3.2.5.4
of CPS/210/SYS/0001.

This format will be used by terminal operators to obtain
status report on the transactions associated with their
terminals. Upon request, the system shall output "transaction
status" addressing those transactions that occurred
after the last periodic R1 report (see section 28).
29.1 F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲E̲ ̲A̲
ta(cr)(EOL)
The operator enters this line. When the system is
in rest mode with respect to the terminal, it shall
respond by transmitting the version of Format R1.
(see section 28).
3̲0̲ ̲ ̲T̲E̲R̲M̲I̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲S̲T̲A̲T̲U̲S̲ ̲(̲F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲ ̲S̲)̲
This format is used when the operator requests the
Terminal Status information printed on the teleprinter.
The format is only applicable for operators at terminal
position where no VDU is assigned.
30.1 F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲E̲ ̲A̲
ts(cr)(EOL)
The operator enters this line. When the system is
in rest mode with respect to the terminal, it shall
respond by printing the Terminal Status information
on the teleprinter in the same format as it is displayed
on a VDU and then return to rest mode.
3̲1̲ ̲ ̲C̲O̲R̲R̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲C̲E̲D̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
This section includes the required instructions and
the correction functions available to the operator
in connection with Formats A, and C1 for message preparation
and Formats G1 and G3 for comments. Correction instructions
and functions are explained for message preparation
formats and comment formats (text in brackets) together.
When the security classification, special handling
category or precedence of a mesage is modified by correction
the system shall take immediate account of the new
category (e.g. with respect to pre-emption and/or possible
security comprise).
Correction instructions:
When the operator indicates (see FORMAT A, C1, G1,
G3) that he wishes to enter the correction procedure
the system shall condition itself to respond to any
of the following correction instructions:
a) The required modification will be specified by
the operator with reference to the format lines
of the Clean Copy format (Format C2, comments:
Format G1) by entering the sequence "p (x) (cr)":
p - A single letter which is either L, D, C or
I as specified below.
x - E̲i̲t̲h̲e̲r̲, a single letter, D,E,F or G (comments:
C, D, E) indicating a format line of Format
C2 o̲r̲ m (sp) n where m is a number from 2 to
8 specifying a format line of Format C2 and
n is a number specifying the printed line within
the format line, e.g. 3(sp)2 would refer to
the second information addressee (comments:
A(sp)n, where A = F, G, or H and n as specified
above).
b) At the end of each correction instruction, and
any display action resulting from it, the central
equipment shall output the sequence "(EOL)GO(sp)AHEAD(EOL)",
and await another correction instruction. If the
entry is "end", then the central equipment shall
exit from the correction procedure and continue
with the format line in the format being used.
c) If the operator makes reference to non-existent
or empty lines of the mesage being corrected or
uses an invalid format for the instructon, the
system shall transmit the sequence "(EOL)?(EOL)GO
(sp)AHEAD(EOL)" and await further correction intructions.
If five successive invalid instructions are entered
by the operator, the sequence "(EOL)GET(sp)SUPERVISOR(sp)
ASSISTANCE(EOL)" shall be transmitted, and system
shall return that terminal to REST MODE.
Correction functions to be provided are the following:
- Print or display the designated line, l (x)
- Delete the designated line d (x)
- Change the entry under the
designated line to a new value c (x)
- Insert a new entry after the
designated line i (x)
1) Print or display the designated line of the mesage
l (x).
The fixed text parts in format lines D, E, F, G,
2, 3, 4 and 6 (comments: C, D, E, F, and G) shall
be printed/displayed on each line whether or not
it is the first line of the format line. If, immediately
following the sequence "GO(sp)AHEAD(EOL)" which
shall be printed/displayed after the designated
format line, the operator enters the sequence (cr),
the next printed line of the format shall be printed/displayed
and this shall continue with successive lines each
time the sequence is entered.
2) Delete the designated line of the message, d (x)
This function shall be used in relation with format
lines 2,3,4,6,7 and 8 only (comments: F,G, and
H). Deletion shall cause the remaining lines to
be renumbered.
3) Change the entry under the designated line to a
new value, c (x).
In response to the sequence "c(x)(cr)", an "end-of-line"
function shall be transmitted together with the
associated fixed text parts for format lines D,
E, F, G, 2,3,4 and 6 (Comments: C, D, E, F and
G), and the new entry shall be awaited. The new
entry shall be subject to the same validation as
the original entry in Format A and the same default
sequence shall apply to invalid entries. For format
lines 7 and 8 (comments: H) the change will be
terminated by the "end-of-text" sequence, and may
extend over several printed lines. When appropriate,
the lines of a message shall be renumbered after
the change instruction.
4) Insert a new entry after the designated line,
i(x).
This function applies to format lines 2, 3, 4,
7 and 8 (comments: F, G, and H). In response to
the sequence "i(x)" the central equipment shall
transmit an "end-of-line" function, and for format
lines 2,3 and 4 (comments: F and G) transmit the
fixed text parts associated with these format lines
and await the new entry. The entry shall be subject
to the same validation as the original entry in
Format A (comments: Format G1) and the same default
sequences shall apply to invalid entries. For
format lines 7 and 8 (comments: H), the insertion
will be terminated by the "end-of-text" sequence
and may extend over several printed lines.
The lines of message shall be renumbered after the
insert instructions.
