The FAQ test of the S-Fan Unit primary is a test of
the cooling efficiency for variation in mains voltage
in the range 220V + 10%/- 15%, and variation in mains
frequency in the range 50 Hz +/- 10%.
The test is made on an S-Fan and two TDX-Crate Assemblies
in CAMPS Line Termination Racks.
The temperature measuring and test methods are made
according to Temperature requirements for the CR 80,
EDD/005/RSP/0001.

The tested S-Fan Unit and TDX-Crate Assemblies were
located in CAMPS Line Termination Racks (Figure 4.1-1).
The Cable Channel Assemblies between the S-Fan Unit
and the TDX-Crate, and between the two TDX-crates,
act as a chimney for the airflow.
In the FAQ test period the rear doors were locked,
and the front doors were open. During measurements
the front doors were locked for a period, but it seems
not to affect the outlet temperatures.
During test all equipment in the racks was turned on.

The tested TDX-Crate Assemblies are CAMPS configurations.
Figure 4.2-1 and 4.2-2 show the modules and their location
in the Crate. In front slots without modules, there
is a front blank panel.

The temperature rise is found by measuring the air
outlet temperature over the PCB Modules and from that
subtract the air inlet temperature in front of the
S-Fan Unit.
The S-Fan Unit inlet temperature is the average of
tree measurings, see figure 4.3-1.

The outlet temperature is measured over the PCB-Modules
with the sensor placed in the gridholes and in gridlevel.
The temperature measuring is done in 4 points over
the slots in the front Crate, see figure 4.3-2.

Settling time before measurement: 60 minutes.

Variation in mains voltage in the range 220V + 10%/-15%
has no effect on the cooling efficiency.
Variation in mains frequency in the range 50Hz +/-
10% affect the highest outlet temperatures with about
+/- 1…0e…o…0f…C.
The conclusion of these measurements must be that variations
in mains supply in the range 220V + 10%/-15%, 50Hz
+/- 10% only have a negligible effect on the S-Fan
units cooling effieciency.
