A P P E N D I X D…01……01……01…ACCEPTANCE…01……01……01…CRITERIA
This appendix defines the acceptance criteria to be
met on designing and producing racks for this contract.
1̲ ̲ ̲D̲O̲O̲R̲ ̲D̲E̲S̲I̲G̲N̲ ̲R̲E̲V̲I̲E̲W̲
A design review on the door design shall be performed.
CR or CR's representative shall be present at the review.
During the review it shall be demonstrated by the vendor
that the design meets the requirements of appendix
B of this contract.
The following issues shall be covered:
1.1 Calculated worst case gasket compression based on manufacture
tolerances shall be checked as quality control provisions.
1.2 Calculated or measured flange defecting based on nominal
draw down. Worst case flange areas shall be identified.
1.3 Identification of field adjustment/wear points and
estimate end-of-life effects.
1.4 Support of choice of gasket in terms of
1 electrochemical activity
2 compression set
3 compression range
4 manufacturers part number or specification
5 transfer impedance data and/or wear characteristics
1.5 Show that with worst case manufacturing and field tolerances
and a given choice of gasket that gasket remains within
recommended compression range within entire door surface.
1.6 Filter Panel design feature and choice of a filter
foam.
1.7 Latch handle design
1.8 A prototype door assembly shall be defined.
2̲ ̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲T̲O̲T̲Y̲P̲E̲ ̲D̲O̲O̲R̲
When the door design is approved, the vendor shall
produce a working prototype of a door, using actual
gaskets and latches, as they will be provided for production
racks.
If special stampings will be used for production racks,
they may be simulated with hand worked sheet metal
pieces. To the extent, the front face of the cabinet
plays a role in the operation and effectiveness of
the door, latch and gasket, these parts shall be simulated
as well.
CR or CR's representative shall be present at the test.
A complete set of drawings for the racks shall be presented
for approval.
The vendor shall prepare a test procedure demonstrating
that the requirements concerning door and door operation
defined in appendix B of this contract are met. These
procedures shall be approved by CR and be submitted
to CR two (2) weeks prior to test.
Deficiencies found during the test shall be corrected
in the first lot of racks.
The following issues shall be covered by the test:
2.1 Smooth operation. No binding scrapping or hang up for
50 successive closures without adjustment or other
maintenance operations.
2.2 Operating force to engage and draw down the latch.
2.3 a) Demonstrate door lift-off capability
b) Re-install door without further adjustment
c) Demonstrate smooth operation or 50 more operations
2.4 Demonstrate that door is impressing gasket in a worst
case spot chosen by customer or representative either
with measurement or with plastic gage.
2.5 Demonstrate that compression set of gasket compared
with "near new" is less than 25 per cent of incompressed
height when "near new".
2.6 Demonstrate that gasket stays in adjustment, or in
channel over operations.
2.7 Filter panel design.
3̲ ̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲T̲O̲T̲Y̲P̲E̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
The first lot of production racks are the Prototype
racks.
The lot contains at least
a) one left end rack
b) one intermediate rack
c) one right end rack
d) one stand-alone rack
a), b), and c) shall be assembled in one 3-bay-assembly.
3.1 A prototype inspection shall be performed to verify
that the racks meet the requirement of appendix B to
this contract.
The following issues shall be covered by the prototype
inspection:
3.1.1 Use of specified materials.
3.1.2 Use of specified gaskets.
3.1.3 Base material of rack (thickness)
3.1.4 Perforated metal type.
3.1.5 Built to approved print (prints should designate any
approved alternative process or material)
3.1.6 Check of important tolerances
- for gasket performance
- for form/fit/function
3.1.7 Check of workmanship
- weld quality and grinding
- plating or metalizing of gasket surface
3.1.8 Check of smoothness of door operation
3.1.9 Check of appearance
- paint finish, colour, texture
3.1.10 Check or accessories and packing crate.
3.2 A shielding effectiveness test shall be performed on
the 3-bay rack assembly by CR's consultant ARC.
The test is performed at the Vendors facility, if possible,
or at a locality agreed by CR, ARC, and the Vendor.
The test shall qualify the tempest performance of the
rack design.
If the test shows problems with meeting the required
tempest performance for CR's application, the Vendor
shall be willing to correct the design at CR's and
ARC's advise.
Corrections are considered a new cost item for development
and production.
As an example it may be necessary to attach honeycombs
behind the perforated ventilation areas.
3.3 Having passed the Prototype inspection an the shielding
effectiveness tests, the racks are approved for production.
