A software modification capability is needed at any
operational site.
The modification shall be performed under the direction
of a B5 esident site technician.
C̲R̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲P̲O̲S̲A̲L̲:̲
This is a copy of the systems design for modification
of the software.
The design foresees modification performed
- at the CSSI site
- at any CAMPS site
C̲S̲S̲I̲ ̲S̲I̲T̲E̲ ̲S̲O̲F̲T̲W̲A̲R̲E̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲I̲F̲I̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
System software can be modified. The system software
is brought into operation subsequent to an ordered
close-down. The software can be modified to an extent,
which will not affect application software operation.
The modified systems software is as an enity transported
on a floppy disk to any CAMPS site.
Application software can be modified. The application
software is brought into operation subsequent to an
ordered switch-over or close-down. The software can
be modified to an extent, which is ale to handle checkpoints
and files stored on disk. The modified application
software is as an entity transported on a floppy disk
to any CAMPS site.
Application and system software patches can be performed
in a process in the program part.
The patches of a magnitude on 50 instructions can be
- prepared on a floppy disk and transported to any
site
- phoned to a site
The patch is loaded to the off-line disc by te off-line
PU during OU operation. A system software patch is
brought into operation subsequent to an ordered switchover
or close-down.
Any site software modification facility exists to load
software modifications prepared at a CSSI site:
The lad of a software patch at any site should be implemented
by the following procedure, which recognizes that the
B5 resident site technician is not educated to prepare
software patches:
1) the B5 technician receives an error report from
the on-linesystem, and he
2) notifies the CSSI technician via phone
3) the CSSI technician prepares a patch and
4) phone the B5 technician
5) the B5 technician edits the received patch into
the off-line disk
6) refer to appendix A1 (section 4.3.1.6. and 4.3.1.6.3)
for detailed loading description.
The involvement of the CSSI technician can be avoided
by giving the B5 technician an appropriate education
