The user who at sign on is recognized as having message
service capability only, or who selects Message Service
(See sections 3..2 and 3.3.4) is given Message Service
Facilities. A message service operator can request
messages from the appropriate queue by use of the Next
Message Key.
Only one message service operator at a time can operate
on a given message in a message ervice queue.
The MSQ procedure services
- incoming garbled messages
- outgoing encrypted messages for group count assignment
- outgoing messages for which RI assignment is not
possible.
The service to garbled incoming messages includes:
display of message
- corrections of any part of the message
- insertion of annotation
- local printout
- local distribution to message service operator
specified staff cell designators
- return of the message for renewed processing
The servce to outgoing encrypted messages for group
count assignment includes:
- display of message
- specification of a new group count
return of the message for renewed routing determination.
The service to outgoing messages for which RI assignmen
is not possible includes:
- display of message
- deletion/insertion of RI's in the message
MSO Traffic is diverted to one of two queues as appropriate
(incoming and outgoing). The MSO selected the desired
queue by the appropriate command (MSQI or MSQ0).
4.2 C̲O̲R̲R̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲ ̲T̲O̲ ̲I̲N̲C̲O̲M̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲G̲A̲R̲B̲L̲E̲D̲ ̲M̲E̲S̲S̲A̲G̲E̲S̲-̲F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲ ̲2̲8̲

The operator specifies staff cells for local distribution.
This line is repeatable, allowing distribution to more
than 6 SCDs. The normal distribution process is by-passed
if any of these fields are completed; instead the message
is distributd directly.
4.2.4.4 L̲o̲c̲a̲l̲ ̲P̲r̲i̲n̲t̲o̲u̲t̲:̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲9̲

A message will normally be returned for renewed processing
after garble correction, but Mode = Y in this field
has the esult that the message is not returned to the
system.
4.2.5 V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The operator presses the NEXT-MESSAGE key or ENTER.
Input in fields 2 - 10 is validated against the range

by command MSQO.
4.3.2 I̲n̲i̲t̲i̲a̲l̲ ̲P̲r̲e̲s̲e̲n̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The message will be presented in a format similar to
ACP127. Both header and text will be vailable (by paging
as necessary). All fields will be protected apart from
RI fields PLA fields of X-marked PLAs, Operating Signal
fields and the Group Count Field. The transaction-type
field is the VDU header will display the reason or
reasons forpresentation to the Message Service Operator.
No leading text fields are provided by the system since
ACP127 provides self-evident Keywords. Format 29 shows
an example.

Field 1 contains precedence and isprotected. Fields
2-8 contain RIs, some of which will normally have been
supplied by the System. These fields are unprotected
and the line is repeatable, so that the operator can
insert RIs as requisite.
4.3.5 A̲C̲P̲1̲2̲7̲-̲F̲o̲r̲m̲a̲t̲ ̲L̲i̲n̲e̲ ̲3̲:̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲9̲

The system inserts the originating HQ's PLA in this
protected field.

F̲o̲r̲m̲a̲t̲ ̲L̲i̲n̲e̲ ̲9̲:̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲s̲ ̲1̲9̲-̲2̲0̲
These lines are all treated similarly. The system completesthe
second field of the line with the PLA, and endeavours
to insert RI into the first field. In the case of "X"
designated PLAs, the "X" will appear in this field,
and the operator will edit in the RI in its place and
possibly amend the PLA. X markd PLAs may be deleted.
In the case of AIGs, this field will be left blank.
Each of these lines will have been repeated by the
system as many times as are necessary to accomodate
the number of TO, INFO, and XMT addresses.
4.3.10 A̲C̲P̲1̲2̲7̲-̲F̲o̲r̲m̲a̲t̲ ̲L̲i̲n̲ ̲1̲0̲:̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲2̲1̲

The remainder of the message is output.
4.3.12 V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The operator completes the transaction by giving the
command "NEXT-MSSAGE" or ENTER. Validation checks the
values of ACP127 Format Line 2 fields only. An incorrect
RI will result in the message being returned with an
error code.
4.3.13 E̲x̲i̲t̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲d̲i̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The next message will be automatically presented, if
NEXT MESAGE was depressed.

The user who at sign on is recognized as having MDCO
only capability or who selects the MDCO Function (See
section 3.3) is prsented with the MDCO menu. (Menu
6, figure 5.1-2).
An MDCO operator can request messages from the MDCO
queue by using the appropriate command.
The MDQ procedure services:
- incoming messages as defined in section 4
- undeliverable messages
data messages
- messages with encrypted text
the service includes:
- display of message
- specification of SCDs
- selection of output of message to PTP
- specify if message is printed at MDCO printer
- specify if message is to be distibuted locally
according to updated message and specified SCDs
The MDCO may further retrieve messages for distribution.
