                        1̲.̲ ̲ ̲S̲C̲O̲P̲E̲

This Documentation Guide describes the documentation
structure for the FIKS application firmware in the
FIKS TDX Systems, and lists the deliverable documents.

               3̲.̲ ̲ ̲D̲E̲S̲C̲R̲I̲P̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲D̲O̲C̲U̲M̲E̲N̲T̲S̲

The documentation consists of the following document
         categories:

         1.  Application Firmware
         2.  System Firmware
         3.  Test Software
         4.  General

The following document types will be found:

         1.  System Design Specifications   (DSP)
         2.  Product Specification          (PSP)
         3.  Source List Binder             (SLB)
         4.  Version Description Document   (VDD)
         5.  Test Procedure                 (TPR)
         6.  Test Report                    (TRP)
         7.  Descriptive Manual             (MAN)
         8.  Users Manual                   (USM)
         9.  Log Book                       (LOG)

Overleaf is shown the FIKS TDX documentation tree,
including the application firmware (left branch).

3.1      S̲y̲s̲t̲e̲m̲ ̲D̲e̲s̲i̲g̲n̲ ̲S̲p̲e̲c̲i̲f̲i̲c̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲

The FIKS TDX System Design Specification describes,
on the highest level covered, how the different TDX
F/W communicates and how the main functions of the
TDX system are working. Complex functions such as:

         a)  DOLCE, the Offline Front System for message encryption
             and decryption
         b)  Data Users which communicate mutually (i.e. Data
             User-LTUX's and TRUNK-LTUX's)

are examples of systems involving a number of LTUX's
         cooperating with VDU/ROP-LTUX's and Teleprinter-LTUX's.

On the contary, stand-alone devices only communicate
         with Host CR80 computers.

3.2      P̲r̲o̲d̲u̲c̲t̲ ̲S̲p̲e̲c̲i̲f̲i̲c̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲

The Product Specifications (PSP) shall act as reference
         documents for the S/W-modules covered.

The purpose of each PSP is to present the F/W with
         overviews and cross-references between requirements
         and F/W.

Another purpose is to describe structures in programs
and data not found in the source listings (SLB) themselves.

Based on the PSP's and the SLB's, maintenance personnel
shall be able to correct program bugs and/or to carry
         out functional changes.

3.3      S̲o̲u̲r̲c̲e̲ ̲L̲i̲s̲t̲

For each S/W or F/W configuration item a Source List
is available. Source Lists are compiled in binders
         - one binder (SLB) per Product Specification.

3.4      V̲e̲r̲s̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲D̲e̲s̲c̲r̲i̲p̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲D̲o̲c̲u̲m̲e̲n̲t̲

The Version Description Documents (VDD) are the S/W
configuration management tool that defines each S/W
         or F/W application.

Furthermore VDD's serves as the link between H/W (i.e.
         strap-/switch-setting) and F/W.

3.5      T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲P̲r̲o̲c̲e̲d̲u̲r̲e̲s̲

The Test Procedures (TPR) describe how the reproducible
tests shall be conducted. There is a TPR for each PSP
         generated.

3.6      T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲R̲e̲p̲o̲r̲t̲

Each formal conducting of a Test shall result in a
Test Report (TRP) showing whether the sSubject under
Test has passed or failed the Test.

3.7      S̲y̲s̲t̲e̲m̲ ̲D̲e̲s̲c̲r̲i̲p̲t̲i̲o̲n̲

Descriptive Manuals (MAN), Users Manuals (USM) and
Log Books (LOG) are used to describe subsystems, testsystems,
configuration procedures etc., as appropriate for the
use and managing of the FIKS project
