FIG. 4.2.3a-4
User Default Values
Standing at the main menu the user may jump directly
to any function, within any subsystem, provided that
he knows the necessary commands by heart and that he
is allowed to perform the function in question.
As an example, suppose he wants to make some budget
report he may enter the BUDGET command to get the Budget
menu displayed. This menu (fig. 4.2.3a-a) will tell
which functions are available within the Budget system.
The user may at this point call the query language
or the report writer to create a report, which the
user will get displayed on his terminal. He may also
decide to copy the output on one of the various hard
copy devices.
The use of hard copy devices is controlled by the user.
In the User Default Menu, fig. 4.2.3a-4 he may enter
the addresses of those devices he wants to use and
he may associate their activation with function keys.
The user may also save the output from the Budget Subsystem
on his personel work file for later use.
Suppose the user wants to send the result of his Budget
interrogation to other ACCESS users, he may go back
to the main menu by entering the Command
ACCESS
On the main menu, fig. 4.2.3a-2 the user will see that
the Electronic Mail Subsystem may be called to assist
the user in distributing the Budget report after entering
ELECMA
the system will display the Electronic Mail Menu which
specifies which functions are available. After choosing
the correct function for creating a message, the user
can insert the result from the Budget enquiry before
the composed message is distributed electronically.
The user can also bypass the main menu, because the
Electronic Mail subsystem is globally known.
The second way to use the menus, is to enter the number
in front of the function requested. This feature is
provided for the inexperienced user, who will have
to read the whole menu, but he does not have to make
more than two key strokes.

This subsystem contains display files and associated
indices. It will be maintained by the ACMI Division,
which will use the various ACCESS features to maintain
the subsystem.
The IDM database machine will be used to contain the
requested information and special relations will be
built to contain the index by name and number. A special
working storage area will be used by the ACMI personel
to manipulate the information before transfer to the
actual CEMS database.
The various access rights to the CEMS database will
be implemented by establishing different views to the
database for the different user, i.e. read, write,
update and delete capabilities for the ACMI personel
and read only capabilities for all other users.
The normal user can enter the CINSAC Executive Management
Summary system by specifying the CINSAC Executive Management
Summary menu, which in turn will allow the user to
enter the directory of the subsystem, or to request
a display of individual files in the subsystem.
The HELP command is available for the inexperienced
user, while the experienced user can bypass menus by
entering all required information at the same time,
e.g.
CEXMAS; CEMDIS,, "to"
When this command is entered anywhere in the system,
and the system will go directly to the CINSAC Executive
Management Summary and display the first file and let
the user continue to successively display the subsequent
files until the "to" parameter.
The user may also specify anywhere in the system that
he wants to see the HELP menu of this subsystem, by
specifying
CEXMAX, HELP
The user may also enter the number 3 followed by the
enter key, or he may press the function key associated
with the HELP function.

The information in this system will be organized in
the relational database IDM, which will maintain the
structure, provide the segregation of different access
rights and establish the requested search capabilities.
The menus and prompts which defines the user interface
to this system will be provided the Interactive System
Language ISL. The main menu will show the various features
of the system, i.e. display of index, summary and dertailed
information. Modification and creation of projects,
to which the user in question has the necessary access
permissions, are also available.
The option to search the index by entering up to three
parameters can easily be implemented on the IDM, and
due to the efficiency of this concept the search time
will be minimal. Likewise Christian Rovsing can offer
to extend the number of allowed entries from max three
to max ten, because this type of search is a standard
search implemented partly in firmware and hardware
on the IDM.
Utilities like the editor and the graphic package etc.
are available for inputting detail information into
this subsystem.
When the user wants to enter this system he can do
this stepwise in a hierarchial fashion by entering
the command to this subsystem, i.e. PROMOS in the ACCESS
main menu. Then he will get a display showing the various
commands available within this subsystem, e.g. PMSRCH,
which in turn will show a display which prompts the
user for a number of search parameters.
The user can also come directly to this point from
any starting point within ACCESS by entering
PROMOS; PMSRCH
in the command line.
A HELP function is available within this subsystem
for the inexperience user. This can also be called
from anywhere within the ACCESS by entering
PROMOS; HELP
The user may also enter the number 9, followed by the
enter key, or he may press the function key associated
with the HELP function.
