1.1 S̲C̲O̲P̲E̲
This Assembly Breakdown illustrates and lists the Protocol
Converter hardware on each site.
The purpose of this document is to assist assembly-/supply-/maintenance-/
and overhaul-personnel in the identification of replaceable
parts.
This Hardware Assembly Breakdown is made according
to reference designations for electrical and electronics
parts and equipment standard USAS Y 32.16-1968.
1.2 D̲O̲C̲U̲M̲E̲N̲T̲ ̲S̲T̲R̲U̲C̲T̲U̲R̲E̲
This document is separated into the following mainsections:
Section 1 Introduction
Section 2 Protocol Converter RACK
Section 3 Peripheral Equipment
Section 4 Appendix
The sections 2 and 3 contain Figures illustrating the
equipment and their general physical location and tables
specifying the components and the site configuration.
Section 4 is an appendix containing general information,
i.e fuse tables and used types of screws, nuts and
washers.
1.3 I̲N̲D̲E̲N̲T̲U̲R̲E̲ ̲L̲E̲V̲E̲L̲S̲
In order to specify an exact equipment location, every
piece of equipment is given a reference designation
number. This hardware assembly breakdown is broken
down in (max.) 4 indenture levels.
I̲n̲d̲e̲n̲t̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲L̲e̲v̲e̲l̲ ̲1̲: Protocol Converter (PC) is broken
down into units.
I̲n̲d̲e̲n̲t̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲L̲e̲v̲e̲l̲ ̲2̲: Consists for example of a breakdown
of a unit into rack equipment assemblies and rack cabinet.
I̲n̲d̲e̲n̲t̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲l̲e̲v̲e̲l̲ ̲3̲: Is for example a split up of a rack
equipment assembly into crate assemblies, mechanics
and internal cables.
I̲n̲d̲e̲n̲t̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲l̲e̲v̲e̲l̲ ̲4̲: Is for example a split up of a crate
assembly into PC-board modules and mechanics.

The above Reference Designation points out a BP-8 in
the Adapter Crate Assembly.
The letter A is used to separate the branch numbers.
The branch numbers are given to follow the physical
configuration, except for the unit numbers. Numbering
goes from left to right (in a unit front view) and
starts at the top of the equipment.

The first number in the first column represents
the Figure Reference (Fig.Ref.) number of the illustration
in which the corresponding part is shown. The second
number plus the second column is the Reference
Designation number used to relate the part in the
illustration with the part description in the Table.
b) D̲e̲s̲c̲r̲i̲p̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲C̲o̲l̲u̲m̲n̲
This column lists the names of all parts included
in the illustrated components list. To find the
Christian Rovsing Part Numbers (which uniquely
identifies each type of equipment) use the description
name as entrance to the alphabetic PC Equipment
List (Figure 1.5-1).

These three columns show by an "x", which equipment
is applied for each site.

Table 1.5-1 is a complete list of types of equipment,
used to build a PC site.
a) The description column is divided in two. A general
"name" column and a specific "type" column.
b) The Figure reference column gives a reference to
a Figure which shows the subassembly (where applicable).
c) The CR Part No. column gives a number that uniquely
identifies each type of equipment in the CR stock.
