The purpose of these guidelines is to outline:
a) the purpose of the Acceptance Test Procedure
b) the baseline documentation
c) the structure of the procedure descriptions
d) the contents of the test procedures
2̲ ̲ ̲F̲U̲N̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲S̲O̲F̲T̲W̲A̲R̲E̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲C̲E̲D̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
2.1 P̲U̲R̲P̲O̲S̲E̲
The test procedures shall contain a detailed description
of the step-by-step procedures required for verification
of all functional capabilities referenced in the Functional
S/W Text Specification.
2.2 B̲A̲S̲E̲L̲I̲N̲E̲ ̲D̲O̲C̲U̲M̲E̲N̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
The following documents shall be used as baseline for
the test procedure elaborations:

3.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
For each function contained in the Test Specification,
a verification procedure shall be described in accordance
with the requirements specified in the SRS and appropriate
ICDs.
3.1.1 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲O̲v̲e̲r̲v̲i̲e̲w̲
For each function or set of related functions, a test
overview, i.e. a procedure summary shall precede the
actual procedure description. The overview shall be
given on a Test Overview layout format and each step
shall describe a separate test procedure.
3.1.2 P̲o̲s̲i̲t̲i̲v̲e̲ ̲T̲e̲s̲t̲s̲
All positive tests i.e. descriptions of correct exercise
of CAMPS functions shall be contained in separate procedures.
These procedures shall be used during the operational
test.
3.1.3 N̲e̲g̲a̲t̲i̲v̲e̲ ̲T̲e̲s̲t̲s̲
Negative tests are tests of CAMPS capabilities for
handling deviations from specified operating procedures
or invalid data. The negative tests cannot cover every
combination of invalid data and operating procedures,
but representative cases shall be covered. Every specified
boundary value and parameter type must be violated
at least once.
3.2 C̲O̲N̲T̲E̲N̲T̲S̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲C̲E̲D̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
The description shall contain the step-by-step procedure
to accomplish verification of each individual function.
Each step shall be assigned a step number and contain
description of the required action and the accordingly
expected results. The description shall be tabulated
into a test procedure form.
The contents of the test procedures shall be structured
as follows.
3.2.1 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲S̲e̲t̲u̲p̲
If not stated elsewhere, this paragraph should itemize
the activities associated with setup of the computer
facilities to conduct the test, including all routine
machine activities from "power on" through "console
setup" to "card/tape read-in". Include the distribution
of test documents, worksheets, and other forms.
3.2.2 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲I̲n̲i̲t̲i̲a̲l̲i̲z̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Starting with the equipment in the set-up condition,
sequence in test order the activities associated with
establishing the conditions of the first test. Initialization
may include such functions as:
a) Read-out of control function locations and critical
data from indicators and storage locations for
reference purposes.
b) Queuing of data input values for first test.
c) Queuing of test support programs, if used.
d) Coordination of personnel actions associated with
test.
3.2.3 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲O̲v̲e̲r̲v̲i̲e̲w̲
Outline of the test cases contained in para 3.2.4.
3.2.4 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲S̲t̲e̲p̲s̲
Sequence the test step(s) in order of test. Include
such special operations, as:
a) Visual inspection of test conditions
b) Data dumps
c) Instructions for data recording
d) Interim evaluation of test results
e) Modifications of data base
3.2.5 T̲e̲s̲t̲ ̲T̲e̲r̲m̲i̲n̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Itemize in the order of test the activities associated
with test termination, such as:
a) Read-out of critical data from indicators and their
locations.
b) Termination of operation of time-sensitive test-support
programs and test apparatus.
c) Collection of system and operator records of test
results.
3.3 T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲P̲A̲R̲A̲M̲E̲T̲E̲R̲S̲
The step-by-step test description shall not contain
any test parameter values. These values must be specified
indirectly by reference to entries in enclosed parameter
tables.
The following tables shall be enclosed:
1. Staff Cell Designators (SCD)
2. Standard Distribution List (SDL)
3. Address Indicator Group (AIG)
4. Plain Language Address (PLA)
5. Terminal Profiles (TP)
6. User Profiles (UP)
7. Device Profiles (DP)
3.4 D̲A̲T̲A̲ ̲E̲N̲T̲R̲I̲E̲S̲
Data entries (i.e. header param., message text etc.)
required during test execution shall be enclosed separately
and addressed by reference in the step-by-step description.
See enclosed example, Annex 3.
3.5 O̲U̲T̲P̲U̲T̲ ̲F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲S̲
All output expected to be presented in specific formats
must be enclosed separately and addressed by reference
in the step-by-step description.
Data and format layout should as far as possible be
separated to provide independancy for layout changes.
