This document describes the procedures and guidelines
for inspection and test of the CDC Disk Drive SMD 9762
and the flow showing events and responsibilities is
shown in the flow-chart fig. 1.1.

TB216 FIELD TEST UNIT
3̲ ̲ ̲I̲N̲C̲O̲M̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
3.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
Unpacking, registration, inspection for shipping damage
and visual inspection of the equipment shall be performed
by the ILS Incoming Inspection personnel.
3.1.1 R̲e̲g̲i̲s̲t̲r̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Registration shall be performed in agreement with the
lines laid down in SD/STD/017, Incoming Inspection
Standard.
3.1.2 F̲a̲i̲l̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲R̲e̲p̲o̲r̲t̲i̲n̲g̲
All failures, discrepancies etc. shall be reported
in agreement with the lines laid down in SD/STD/018,
Nonconformance Standard.
3.1.3 D̲o̲c̲u̲m̲e̲n̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
3.1.3.1 I̲n̲v̲o̲i̲c̲e̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲C̲O̲C̲'̲s̲
Invoice and Certificates of Conformance shall in copies
be distributed to the Project Office.
3.1.3.2 M̲a̲n̲u̲a̲l̲s̲
Serial numbered manuals shall be filed in the ILS-archives
until repacking.
3.2 I̲N̲C̲O̲M̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲L̲O̲G̲
The Incoming Inspection Log fig. 3.2-1 shall be filled
in consistent and carefully during the whole inspection
and test operation. This log will be an appendix to
the concerned Incoming Inspection Report (IKR).
4̲ ̲ ̲V̲I̲S̲U̲A̲L̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
4.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The following visual inspection points shall be inspected
by the ILS-inspection personnel.
4.2 I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲P̲O̲I̲N̲T̲S̲
a) Verify that all ordered documentation, cables,
terminators, address plugs, pins etc. are presented.
b) Inspect drive for possible shipping damage.
c) Verify that all logic cards are firmly seated in
logic chassis and power supply.
d) Verify that the control panel is firmly seated
in shroud.
e) Verify that all connectors are firmly seated.
f) Raise deck and verify that all cabling is intact
and that there are no broken or damaged wires.
g) Check entire drive for presence of foreign material
which could cause an electrical short.
h) Check actuator and pack area for presence of material
which could obstruct movement of carriage and heads.
i) Ensure that carriage locking pin and ring assembly
is moved from SHIPPING LOCK hole to PIN STORAGE
hole.
4.3 T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲P̲O̲R̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
The transportation between ILS and EDB-TA will be carried
out of ILS-personnel.
5̲ ̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
5.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The following test-points shall be performed by EDB-TA
personnel according to CDC 83323370 TB 216 Field Test
Unit Manual.
5.2 T̲I̲M̲E̲-̲C̲O̲U̲N̲T̲E̲R̲
The date of the time counter before and after test
shall be entered in the Incoming Inspection Log.
5.3 M̲E̲C̲H̲A̲N̲I̲C̲A̲L̲ ̲P̲A̲R̲T̲S̲
Inspect all mechanical parts internal in the drive
to ensure that there are no broken or damaged parts.
5.4 O̲F̲F̲-̲L̲I̲N̲E̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲U̲N̲I̲T̲
Connect the Off-Line Test Unit TB216 to the drive.
5.5 M̲A̲I̲N̲ ̲P̲O̲W̲E̲R̲
Connect the main power and measure the presence of:
+/- 5V DC
+/- 20V DC
+/- 46V DC
5.6 P̲A̲C̲K̲ ̲A̲R̲E̲A̲
Inspect the pack area for dust or other foreign materials.
5.7 D̲I̲S̲C̲ ̲P̲A̲C̲K̲A̲G̲E̲
Mount the pre-formatted disc package.
5.7.1 V̲e̲n̲t̲i̲l̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Ventilate the pack area for minimum 10 minutes.
5.8 D̲R̲I̲V̲E̲ ̲S̲T̲A̲R̲T̲
When the drive is started it shall be ensured that
no abnormal noise is existing.
5.9 S̲E̲Q̲U̲E̲N̲T̲I̲A̲L̲ ̲R̲E̲A̲D̲/̲W̲R̲I̲T̲E̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
Sequential read/write of random data from the preformatted
disc package shall take place for minimum 15 minutes.
5.9.1 D̲i̲s̲c̲r̲e̲p̲a̲n̲c̲i̲e̲s̲
In case failures or discrepancies occur, head alignment
shall be controlled with the CE-package.
5.10 M̲A̲X̲I̲M̲U̲M̲ ̲S̲E̲E̲K̲
Maximum seek shall be performed for minimum 15 minutes.
5.10.1 D̲i̲s̲c̲r̲e̲p̲a̲n̲c̲i̲e̲s̲
In case failures or discrepancies occur, the servo
system and the power system shall be controlled.
5.11 R̲A̲N̲D̲O̲M̲ ̲S̲E̲E̲K̲
Perform random seek with read/write of random data
for minimum 1 hour.
5.12 T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲P̲O̲R̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
When all tests have been performed and the paperwork
is finished, contact ILS for transportation from EDB-TA
testareas to ILS-testareas.
6̲ ̲ ̲P̲A̲C̲K̲I̲N̲G̲
6.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
ILS-personnel has the responsibility for collecting
all items according to para. 4.2 a and performance
of the following points.
6.2 P̲A̲C̲K̲I̲N̲G̲
All items shall be packed in plastic bags with humidity
absorbing Silica Gel and repacked in the reuseable
container.
6.3 P̲A̲P̲E̲R̲W̲O̲R̲K̲
The paperwork in the shape of Incoming Inspection Log,
Incoming Inspection Record and Stock List shall be
finished.
6.4 T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲P̲O̲R̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
ILS has the responsibility for transportation between
CR A/S, Ballerup and the stock in Herlev.
