APPENDIX A, Data Sheet for Conduit and Fittings
1 S̲C̲O̲P̲E̲
With reference to the As-To-Be-Built drawings for site
No. 1 this technical note describes the conduit and
fittings used in CAMPS.

2.1 M̲E̲T̲A̲L̲L̲I̲C̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲D̲U̲I̲T̲
a) As metallic conduit for EMI shieldering of power
and signal cables terminating in rack A thru H,
a 48 mm/75 mm type as flexible hose with an inner
spiral shield made from zink plated steel covered
with a layer of gray PVC will be used (Albert Speck
KG, Germany)(see Appendix A).
b) Alternatively, due to lack of space between floor
and racks, a zippertube type SHx4 with a gray flame
resistant outer jacket with a Z-trac closure may
be used (see Appendix A).
c) As metallic conduit between rack C and rack D,
a flexible hose with an inner spiral shield made
from molybdenum-permalloy covered with two layers
of tinned-copper wire braid will be used.
2.2 C̲O̲N̲D̲U̲I̲T̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲F̲I̲T̲T̲I̲N̲G̲S̲ ̲F̲O̲R̲ ̲P̲O̲W̲E̲R̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲I̲N̲G̲
a) As shown on dwg. ES-3-575 the power to the racks
A, B and E is enclosed in a 48 mm flexible metallic
hose (zink plated steel) covered by a gray outer
PVC jacket. From the PLF box placed inside the
racks, a reducing bushing is used to achieve proper
connection between the 1 1/2" nipple and the PLF
box. A washer on the reducing bushing is required
to ensure that no emission is possible. Using two
clamps a tight and secure connection between nipple
and the metallic conduit is made.
b) The power cable enclosure for the frequency stabilizer
unit is 48 mm PVC flexible conduit since only physical
protection is required. The PVC conduit is fastened
to the nipples by means of clamps (dwg ES-3-576).
c) As shown on dwg ES-3-577 3/4" metallic conduit
is used as enclosure for the power cable to the
CRT. Reducing bushings are inserted between PLF
and 3/4" 45…0e…o…0f… fitting to obtain proper connection.
2.3 C̲O̲N̲D̲U̲I̲T̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲F̲I̲T̲T̲I̲N̲G̲S̲ ̲F̲O̲R̲ ̲S̲I̲G̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲I̲N̲G̲
a) The enclosure for the cables going into the filterbox
in rack F is a 75 mm flexible metallic hose (zink
plated steel) covered by a gray outer PVC jacket
which is fastened to the nipples by means of clamps
(see dwg ES-3-578).
b) Opto signal cables and metallic signal cables for
remote terminal installations are enclosed with
the conduit specified on drawing ES3-575 and in
previous section 2.1.a.
c) Opto fibre cables in rack D are enclosed in a 75
mm PVC flexible conduit between the cable duct
and the waveguide (ref. Dwg. ES3-579).
d) From the ferrous duct/J-box to the PTP/PTR (dwg
ES-3-580) 3/4" flexible metal conduit is used.
Two pairs of 3/4" 45…0e…o…0f… fittings are terminating
the conduit at the PTP/PTR and at the ferrous duct/J-box.
e) Two different types of connections are used between
rack C and D. When the distance between the racks
does not exceed 50 mm, the solution shown on drawing
ES-3-581 is applicable. The enclosure is 2 1/2"
ferrous tube of 276 mm length with one 2 1/2" 90…0e…0…0f…
fitting at each end. A male adapter and a nut make
out the connection between 90…0e…o…0f… fitting and the
rack.
f) Where the distance between rack C and D is greater
than 50 mm, the solution shown on dwg ES-3-582
is applicable. This connection can be used for
either bottom mounting or top mounting. The shielded
enclosure is a 2 1/2" flexible metal hose. The
conduit is connected to the rack by means of a
2 1/2" fitting.
