FUNCTION KEY DESIGN…01…ON THE DELTA DATA 7260 TC VDU
1̲ ̲ ̲D̲E̲F̲I̲N̲I̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
A number of standard function command keys shall be
available for the VDU-users as described in the ICDs
001, 002, and 010. These will be applied to the available
function keys.
The allocation of functions to the function keys is
described in the following.
2̲ ̲ ̲K̲E̲Y̲B̲O̲A̲R̲D̲
The keyboard on the Delta Data 7260TC VDU is shown
in fig. 2.1.
The keys available are:
- Typewriter keypad
- 10 miscellaneous control function keys
- 12 programmable function keys (F1-F12)
- 10 edit and clear function keys
- 12 text processing function keys
- 12 display control function keys
- 12 upper/lower case programmable function keys

3̲ ̲ ̲V̲D̲U̲ ̲F̲U̲N̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
The functions available for the VDU-users (User, Supervisor,
MDCO, MSO, and Operator) are as follows:
3.1 I̲N̲S̲E̲R̲T̲ ̲(̲n̲)̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲E̲S̲ ̲(̲F̲2̲)̲
By depressing the programmable function key F2, this
function is activated. If the cursor is positioned
in a repeatable line, the activation of Insert (N)
Line function shall cause the cursor to move to the
command line where a number is entered. This will
cause the entered number of lines to be inserted after
the line where the insert function was activated and
the cursor to be positioned there. If the VDU-user
attempts to exceed the line limit only the allowed
number of lines are inserted.
3.2 D̲E̲L̲E̲T̲E̲ ̲(̲n̲)̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲E̲S̲ ̲(̲F̲4̲)̲
By depressing the programmable function key F4 this
function is activated. This function is activated
analogously to the insert function, except that the
lines are deleted. Attempts to delete more lines than
allowed shall cause only the possible number of lines
to be deleted.
3.3 N̲E̲X̲T̲ ̲F̲I̲E̲L̲D̲ ̲(̲T̲A̲B̲)̲
This function is activated by depressing the TAB key
and causes the cursor to move to the first position
of the next entry field.
3.4 P̲R̲E̲V̲I̲O̲U̲S̲ ̲F̲I̲E̲L̲D̲ ̲(̲B̲A̲C̲K̲ ̲T̲A̲B̲)̲
This function is activated by depressing the BACK TAB
kay and causes the cursor to move to the first position
of the previous entry field.
3.5 C̲H̲A̲R̲A̲C̲T̲E̲R̲ ̲O̲V̲E̲R̲W̲R̲I̲T̲E̲
This function simply causes the character at the cursor
position to be overwritten by the activated character
key and the cursor to move to the next character position
if applicable. This function will not be reflected
in a function key.
3.6 C̲O̲M̲M̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲(̲F̲1̲)̲
By depressing programmable function key F1, the cursor
moves to the command line and awaits a four-letter
command code and parameters if applicable.
3.7 R̲E̲T̲U̲R̲N̲ ̲(̲E̲N̲T̲E̲R̲)̲
The return function as described in the ICDs 001, 002,
and 010 is not equivalent to the RETURN-key.
This function causes the contents of the System and
Command Line to be sent to the host and is activated
by depressing the ENTER-key.
3.8 P̲A̲G̲E̲-̲O̲N̲ ̲(̲P̲A̲G̲E̲ ̲F̲W̲D̲)̲
This function is activated by depressing the PAGE FWD-key.

3.9 P̲A̲G̲E̲-̲B̲A̲C̲K̲ ̲(̲P̲A̲G̲E̲ ̲B̲A̲C̲K̲)̲
This function is activated by depressing PAGE BACK

functional description.
3.10 S̲C̲R̲O̲L̲L̲-̲O̲N̲ ̲(̲S̲C̲R̲O̲L̲L̲ ̲F̲W̲D̲)̲

3.11 S̲C̲R̲O̲L̲L̲ ̲B̲A̲C̲K̲ ̲(̲S̲C̲R̲O̲L̲L̲ ̲B̲A̲C̲K̲)̲
Depress SCROLL BACK key. For functional description

3.12 S̲Y̲S̲T̲E̲M̲ ̲(̲A̲T̲T̲N̲)̲
This function causes the cursor to move the System-Line
and await appropriate four-letter command code. It
is activated by depressing ATTN key.
3.13 E̲N̲T̲E̲R̲ ̲(̲E̲N̲T̲E̲R̲)̲
This function causes the current pages in the VDU to
be transmitted to the host and is activated by depressing
ENTER key.
3.14 C̲A̲N̲C̲E̲L̲ ̲(̲F̲1̲1̲)̲

3.15 S̲U̲S̲P̲E̲N̲D̲ ̲(̲F̲5̲)̲

By depressing programmable function key F7, the cursor
moves to the command line where a valid error number
can be entered. This will cause the Error Message
to be displayed in the Response Line.
3.19 P̲R̲I̲N̲T̲ ̲(̲F̲3̲)̲
This function is activated by depressing the programmable
function key F3 and causes the item which is partly
displayed on the VDU to be printed at the logically
associated printer. Printable item: Refer CPS/ICS/009.
3.20 R̲E̲T̲U̲R̲N̲ ̲T̲O̲ ̲C̲U̲R̲R̲E̲N̲T̲ ̲M̲E̲N̲U̲ ̲(̲F̲1̲2̲)̲

3.21 I̲N̲S̲E̲R̲T̲ ̲F̲I̲E̲L̲D̲ ̲G̲R̲O̲U̲P̲ ̲(̲C̲O̲N̲T̲R̲O̲L̲ ̲1̲)̲
This function and the following are activated by depressing
the CONTROL-key and a number on the numeric keypad
simultaneously. In this case CONTROL 1 is depressed.

3.22 D̲E̲L̲E̲T̲E̲ ̲F̲I̲E̲L̲D̲ ̲G̲R̲O̲U̲P̲ ̲(̲C̲O̲N̲T̲R̲O̲L̲ ̲2̲)̲

3.23 E̲X̲P̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲P̲L̲A̲ ̲(̲n̲)̲ ̲(̲F̲8̲)̲
By depressing the programmable function key F8, this
function is activated. The activation of EXPAND PLA
(n) function shall cause the cursor to move to the
command line where a number is entered. This will cause
the entered number to be converted and the full PLA
to be displayed in RESPONSE LINE. The cursor will be
re-
positioned.
