T̲E̲C̲H̲N̲I̲C̲A̲L̲ ̲R̲E̲Q̲U̲I̲R̲E̲M̲E̲N̲T̲S̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲F̲I̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
The Optical Modem Equipment to be supplied under this
contract shall meet the specifications and requirments
specified in this appendix:
1̲ ̲ ̲G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲F̲I̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
1.1 The CAMPS Optical Communication System (OCS) shall
establish a full duplex asynchronous link between data
terminal equipment (peripherals) and the data terminal
equipment (host computer) or a synchronous/ asynchrounous
link between two host computers.
The OCS includes the following items:
a) A CAMAC module to be connected in the host computer
end.
b) A built-in module to be placed into existing terminals
(Visual Display Unit (VDU), Medium speed Printer
(MSP))
A stand-alone module is a built-in module placed
in a separate box to be placed by the terminal.
c) Dual monofiber opto-cable to interconnect the modules.
d) Optical connectors to use for termination of the
OPTO cables. The connectors fit the connectors
mounted on the modules.
1.2 Transmission length capability shall be mininum 2 km.
1.3 Optical modules shall be mutually compatible, so that
any combination of modems and cable length provide
an OCS operating within specified limits without any
adjustments necessary, provided the cable length is
below specified max. value.
The optical modems shall exhibit high reliability and
long MTBF, thus excluding the use of injection laser.
1.4 Bit error rate shall be better than 10xx -9 for all
combinations of baud rates and lengths specified.
1.5 The optical link shall continuously be monitored and
fatal erros (e.g. line break, loss of synchronization)
shall be indicated by light indicators.
2̲ ̲ ̲E̲N̲V̲I̲R̲O̲N̲M̲E̲N̲T̲
The OCS-items shall operate within the specified limits
under environmental conditions as specified below:
2.1 Ambient temperature range: 0 to 50 deg.c.
Change: max. 10 deg.C per hour.
2.2 Humidity: 40 - 90 per cent relative humidity (% RH),
non-condensing.
Change: Max. 6% RH per hour.
2.3 Altitude: Sea level to 2000 meter.
2.4 D̲U̲S̲T̲,̲ ̲F̲U̲M̲E̲S̲
The equipment shall be able to operate continuously
and with normal scheduled preventive maintenance in
the following air environment:

3.1 S̲I̲N̲G̲L̲E̲ ̲C̲H̲A̲N̲N̲E̲L̲ ̲B̲U̲I̲L̲T̲-̲I̲N̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲U̲L̲E̲
The single channel built-in module is designed to be
used in the terminal end of the optical communication
system (OCS).
The module shall be used for TEMPEST terminals.
The connection to the terminal may be implemented in
two basic different ways:
a) BUILT-IN (B-I): The module is mounted inside the
TEMPEST shield of the terminal. Installation of
the module in the TEMPEST terminal shall be performed
in a way, which does not disturb the TEMPEST integrity
and performance of the terminal.
It shall be possible to mount the built-in module
enclosed in the Delta Data System Corporation VDU,
type 7260T.
b) STAND-ALONE (S-A): The module is placed in a box,
which is mounted on the outer surface of the TEMPEST
terminal or on wall/floor close to the terminal.
The assembly formed by the module and the box shall
be certified to meet the TEMPEST requirements NACSEM
5100.
The signal interface connection between the S-A
and the terminal is passed by the normal signal
connector of the terminal.
This section specifies the module used in both ways.
Requirements specific for only the one application
are marked B-I resp. S-A.
Requirements specific for the module to be mounted
in the DELTA 7260T are marked 7260T.
3.1.1 S̲i̲z̲e̲
The requirements for available space shall be minimize
to ease installation.
Max. dimensions:
7260T: 242 x 216 x 30 mm (H x D x W, exclusive
connectors)
S-A: 362 x 318 x 80 mm
3.1.2 P̲o̲w̲e̲r̲ ̲I̲n̲p̲u̲t̲
Power input characteristics will for B-I modules show
variations depending on the actual terminal.
The specification of the S-A below are the basic power
input requirements.
7260T: a) The module is supplied with filtered transformed
power through the power filters of the
terminal.
b) Voltage: Single phase, 110 VAC
Voltage tolerances: + 20%/-18%
c) Frequency:
Nominal value: 50 Hz
Tolerances: +10/-10%
d) Harmonic distortion:
Max. 5%
e) Transients:
Non-repetive impulsive interference
with a magnitude not to exceed 250
volts, pulse rise and fall times not
faster than 10 microseconds and a total
duration of maximum 1 millisecond.
The available impulse energy at the
equipment power inlet shall not exceed
5J.
f) Power consumption: less than 0.25 ampere
at 110 VAC.
S-A: a) If filtered power is no available, the
power line filter is included in the box.
b) Voltage: Single phase
b1) Some equipment will be operated at
240 VAC
b2) Most equipment will be operated at
220 VAC
Voltage tolerances: +10%/-15%
c) Frequency:
Nominal value: 50 Hz
Tolerances: +10%-10%
d) Harmonic distortion:
Max. 5%
e) Transients:
Non-repetive impulsive interference
with a magnitude not to exceed 500
volts, pulse rise and fall times not
faster than 10 microseconds and a total
duration of maximum 1 millisecond.
The available impulse energy at the
equipment power inlet shall not exceed

3.1.3 M̲e̲c̲h̲a̲n̲i̲c̲a̲l̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲s̲t̲r̲u̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
S-A: a) OPTO-cables are fed through a waveguide/port
on the rear/bottom of the box to the optical
connectors.
b) V24-connectors are fed thorugh a waveguide/port
on the rear/bottom of the box to the V24
connector.
c) Power cables
c1) Power line filter not include in box:
Cables are fed through a waveguide/port
on the rear/bottom of the box to the
power connector of the module
c2) Power line filter incuded in box:
Cables are fed to a power connector
on the rear/bottom of the box.
d) The waveguide/port construction mentioned
in paras a), b), and c) above shall allow
the cables to be disconnected from the
box, without cutting connectors, e.g. a
plate carrying the waveguide screwed on
the box.
3.1.4 L̲i̲g̲h̲t̲ ̲I̲n̲d̲i̲c̲a̲t̲o̲r̲s̲
The colour of the light indicators will be PWR-Green,
RCVL-Red, RTS-Yellow, CTS-Yellow, and SYNC-Red.
B-I/7260T: Light indicators shall be visible on the
module, close to the upper edge.
S-A: Light indicators shall be visible on the
front/upper panel to allow inspecton without
disassembly of the box.
3.1.5 S̲i̲g̲n̲a̲l̲ ̲I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲f̲a̲c̲e̲ ̲t̲o̲ ̲D̲a̲t̲a̲ ̲T̲e̲r̲m̲i̲n̲a̲l̲
3.1.5.1 The electrical interface specification shall comply
with CCITT V 28 modified by MIL-STD-188C.
Max. transmission speed is 9600 bps.
The module shall interface to Data Terminal Equipment
(DTE).
3.1.5.2 The built-in module shall provide the following circuits:

3.2 S̲I̲N̲G̲L̲E̲ ̲C̲H̲A̲N̲N̲E̲L̲ ̲C̲A̲M̲A̲C̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲U̲L̲E̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲F̲O̲R̲M̲E̲R̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲U̲L̲E̲
This version shall be housed in a 1m, 5u CAMAC module.
CR specifies the mechanical dimensions and characteristics
of the module.
The front panel is designed by Versitron.
The mechanical items (front panel, runners, tec.) are
supplied to Versitron by CR A/S for assembly by Versitron.
3.2.1 All signal and power connections shall be via an edge
connector on the rear of the module. Connector and
pin allocation are specified by CR A/S.
3.2.2 P̲o̲w̲e̲r̲ ̲S̲o̲u̲r̲c̲e̲s̲
The module can be powered by two alternative power
sources. The source is selected by straps on the module
or an equivalent method.
a) DC-power
available regulated voltages:
a1) + 5v
a2) + 12v
a3) - 12v
b) AC-power
b1) The module is powered by 2 x 9 VAC through
3 connectors of the edge connector.
b2) A transformer module converts to 2 x 9 VAC
nominal.
The transformer unit is supplied by Versitron.
b.2.1 The transformer module shall be able
to supply 8 CAMAC-modules
b.2.2 The transformer module diagram and
mechanical lay-out are specified by
CR.
b.2.3 Power input to the transformer unit:
220 VAC + 10 %/- 15 %
50 HZ + 10 %/- 10 %
b.2.4 Harmonic distortion: Max. 5 per cent
3.2.3 Indicators and optical connectors shall be mounted
on the front panel, indicators in the lower end. The
colour of the Indicators shall be specified by CR.
See paragraph 3.1.4.
3.2.4 S̲i̲g̲n̲a̲l̲ ̲I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲f̲a̲c̲e̲
3.2.4.1 The electrical interface specification shall comply
with CCITT V28 modified by MIL-STD-188c. The module
shall be able to interface standard V28 circuits.
Transmisison speed:
a) Asynchronous: Max. 19.2 kbps
b) Synchronous: 2.4, 4.8, 9.6, 19.2 and 38.4 kbps.
The module shall interface both to DTE and DCE. The
normal interface is to DTE. The cross-connection cable
required for providing the DCE interface will be supplied
by CR.

The following configurations shall be possible:
a) CAMAC to Built-in module, Asynchronous transmission,
both modules are DTE.
b) CAMAC to CAMAC, asynchronous transmission, all
combinations of DCE/DTE.
c) CAMAC to CAMAC, synchronous transmission, both
are DCE or one DTE, provided local modem is Master
and remote modem is slave. (see attached drawing.
3.3 O̲P̲T̲I̲C̲A̲L̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲K̲
Specificaton of optical signal in opto line:
a) Optical Wavelength: 820 nm
b) Optical Bandwidth: 10 to 15 MHZ/km
c) Launched transmit power (min): 80 microwatts
d) Optical receive power (min.) 200 nanowatts
e) Optical path loss. Max allowed value including
one splice: 23 db
f) Optical coding: Manchester
3.4 O̲P̲T̲I̲C̲A̲L̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲E̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲N̲E̲C̲T̲O̲R̲S̲
a) The optical cable shall be dual core monofiber.
GALITE type 50 205D or equivalent is acceptable.
b) The optical connectors for mounting on the opto
cable are SMA Type.
