The On-The-Job Training package is defining reading
studies in the relevant manuals before practical tasks
are later initiated. Quizzes are used to measure progress,
point out areas of any student weakness, and to allow
students to recap sections of the training as applicable.
The training is self-paced, even if time frames are
suggested for the various parts of the training.
When sections of the training have been completed,
the students shall consult the part-time instructor
before going on to the following sections.
If any difficulties occur, the students shall also
consult the part-time instructor for clarification.
The quizzes are of the multiple-choice type.
5 T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲A̲I̲D̲S̲
The Training Aids consist of On-The-Job Training packages
and manuals relevant for the type of operator concerned.
Furthermore, the part-time instructor has the answers
for the quizzes found in the various parts of the OJT-packages.
Using the answer-sheets, the instructor can monitor
student progress and give support, if necessary.
6 O̲P̲E̲R̲A̲T̲O̲R̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲O̲J̲T̲ ̲T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲G̲U̲I̲D̲E̲
The operator and OJT Training Guide is provided to
the OJT Instructor so he will be able to perform the
training to the student in the best suitable way in
order to ease the learning steps and procedures. By
using the Training Guide the Instructor is guided in
how to prepare himself and the equipment involved for
the session with the student.
The Operator and OJT Training Guide consists of:
- Scope and Introduction to the purpose and Content
of each OJT-package
- Overview of who will be given OJT-training, on
what equipment or terminal position
- Extract on how training should be conducted using
the specific OJT-package and the necessary aid
involved
- Multiple Choice Self-Quiz Answer Sheets with the
results from the individual student.
- Student Progress Sheet with the information in
which areas the student could be offered more aid
in order to Progress more.
The instructor for the OJT-training are given the directions
to conduct the training of the operators and maintenance
technicians by reading the appropriate section in the
operator and OJT training guide. By carefully analyzing
the student's Answer Sheets and progress, the Instructor
will have an adequate tool to provide his effort to
make the students progress as much as possible.
7 L̲E̲N̲G̲T̲H̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲
The final issue of the OJT-package contains time frames
for each part of the training. Depending on student
abilities and prerequisites, the time to perform the
complete training may me different.
Please refer to the OJT-package for information on
the time to complete each part of the training.
It should also be considered that self-paced and interactive
training is very intensive and that breaks are necessary
if the student shall have the full benefit of the training.
8 T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲S̲U̲P̲E̲R̲V̲I̲S̲O̲R̲
An experienced supervisor or resident site technician
shall be available for consultation in case of problems,
and for monitoring the progress of the students.
Furthermore, it is expected that the part-time instructor
makes a short introduction to the use of the On-The-Job
Training package and the relevant manual to be used
during the training.
The instructor shall also give an introduction to the
use of the visual display unit and the printer (if
applicable).
Security regulations shall be explained, and any restrictions
in the use of the equipment, depending on the existing
situation.
It is the responsibility of the instructor to define
if the normal use of the CAMPS system allows On-The-Job
Training as it may be expected that the students from
time to time make mistakes which may influence the
normal use of the system.
