FIGURE 3.9-1
3.9 P̲R̲E̲P̲A̲R̲E̲ ̲P̲R̲E̲D̲E̲F̲I̲N̲E̲D̲ ̲M̲E̲S̲S̲A̲G̲E̲ ̲-̲ ̲M̲(̲x̲)̲
3.9.1 The system contains (up to) 200 master messages where
the fields have been partly filled in. The PRPM command
allows the operator to compose a message by editing
a copy of one of the master messages.
Format layout M-1 (fig 3.9-2) asks for the reference
number (M001 to M200) of the predefined message. The
reference number can also be entered as a parameter
to the command PRPM. The number is validated to ensure
it corresponds to a master message. Up to 200 messages
may be stored.
3.9.2 E̲n̲t̲r̲y̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲H̲a̲n̲d̲l̲e̲r̲
The header of the predefined message will be presented
partly completed (as found in the master message).
The rules for entry of data are the same as for format
A (see section 3.4.1.1 to 3.4.1.14).
3.9.2.1 V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The validation procedure is the same as described for
format A section 3.4.1.15.
3.9.2.2 E̲n̲t̲r̲y̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲S̲u̲b̲j̲e̲c̲t̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲n̲a̲l̲ ̲H̲a̲n̲d̲l̲i̲n̲g̲
Subject and internal handling are displayed as found
in the master message. The rules for entry of data
are the same as for format A-2 (see sections 3.4.2.1
and 3.4.2.2).
3.9.2.3 V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The validation procedure is the same as described for
format A section 3.4.2.1-2.

FIGURE 3.9-4
3.9.3 E̲n̲t̲r̲y̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲T̲e̲x̲t̲
The text portion is displayed in a special TEXT ENTRY
FORM in order to assist the user in preparing the text
part of the message. The STORED FORM of the text part
is different from the text entry form. If the message
is afterwards printed or displayed (e.g. by 'Continue
Message Preparation') the text part will appear in
the stored form.
The displayed text portion consists of the following
text elements:
- Segments
- Sets
- Groups
- Lines
- Fields
3.9.3.1 S̲e̲g̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲
The segments define a block structure on the displayed
text portion. Each segment is indicated by a BEGIN
SEGMENT and an END SEGMENT line. Segments may be nested
and the nesting may be indicated by identation, e.g.
o MAIN SEGMENT
SET
SET
o SUBSEGMENT A
SET
SET
END SUBSEGMENT A
SET
o SUBSEGMENT B
SET
END SUBSEGMENT B
END MAIN SEGMENT
The begin segment line contains a segment marker field
(indicated by o).
3.9.3.1.1 R̲e̲p̲e̲a̲t̲a̲b̲l̲e̲ ̲S̲e̲g̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲
A segment may be repeated by placing the curser in
the marker field of the segment and pressing the function
key INSERT. A copy of the segment (including BEGIN
and END lines) is inserted just after the segment.
If a segment has been repeated one of the copies may
be deleted by a DELETE command with the curser placed
in the marker field.
3.9.3.1.2 S̲t̲o̲r̲e̲d̲ ̲F̲o̲r̲m̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲S̲e̲g̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲
The BEGIN SEGMENT and END SEGMENT lines do not appear
in the stored form of the text portion.
3.9.3.2 S̲e̲t̲s̲
A set contains one or several fields with common heading
identification. There exist three different kind of
sets,
- normal sets
- columnar sets
- free text sets
3.9.3.2.1 N̲o̲r̲m̲a̲l̲ ̲S̲e̲t̲s̲
A normal set is displayed as a heading line followed
by field lines:
o QQ SET ID SET NAME
Field line 1
Field line 2
...
3.9.3.2.1.1 H̲e̲a̲d̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲L̲i̲n̲e̲
The heading line contains SET MARKER, SET QUALIFIER,
SET ID and SET NAME.
The set marker (o) is used as cursor position in insert/delete
commands as described below.
The set qualifier (QQ) is an instruction to the operator
about usage of the set
M Mandatory
O Optional
MR Mandatory and Repeatable
OR Optional and Repeatable
The set id is an abbreviated name of the set and is
included in the stored form of the message.
The set name is an explanatory text which is not included
into the message.
3.9.3.2.1.2 F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲L̲i̲n̲e̲s̲
The field lines are single field lines or groups of
field lines.
A single field line consists of a line descriptor and
a FIELD which may be simple or mixed.
R A ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲
Repeatable lines (descriptor R) may be inserted/deleted
as usual by use of insert/delete lines commands.
The field consists of field descriptor plus room for
entry of characters. A mixed field is splitted into
several components by means of field descriptors, e.g.
N ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ a ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲
In the stored format the components are concatenated
and treated as one field.
3.9.3.2.1.3 L̲i̲n̲e̲ ̲G̲r̲o̲u̲p̲s̲
A line group is a group of single field lines surrounded
by GROUP BEGIN and GROUP END lines:
o GROUP PQRS
single field lines
END PQRS
The group begin line contains a marker field.
A group is repeatable and the keys INSERT/DELETE may
be applied to groups exactly in the same manner as
for segments (section 3.9.3.1.1).
The group begin/end lines do not appear in the stored
form of the message.
3.9.3.2.2 C̲o̲l̲u̲m̲n̲a̲r̲ ̲S̲e̲t̲s̲
A columnar set is displayed as a heading line followed
by column field lines, e.g.:
o QQ SET ID HEAD1 HEAD2 HEAD3
R A ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ N ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ a ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲
R A ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ n ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ n ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲
The heading line is similar to the heading line of
a normal set (section 3.9.3.2.1) but the SET NAME is
replaced by a COLUMN HEADING ('HEAD1 HEAD2 HEAD3' in
the example).
The column field lines contain field descriptor plus
several fields displayed in the columns defined by
the column heading. The column field lines may be repeatable
and structured in line groups just like field lines
in a normal set.
A columnar set may be inserted/deleted in the same
way as a normal set.
3.9.3.2.3 F̲r̲e̲e̲ ̲T̲e̲x̲t̲ ̲S̲e̲t̲
A free text set is displayed as a single repeatable
line with a 69 character field:
R a ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲ ̲
If data is entered into the field, the user should
enter the following:
- Set ident
- Slash character (/)
- Field contents - may extend over several lines
- Two slash characters (//)
3.9.3.2.4 S̲t̲o̲r̲e̲d̲ ̲F̲o̲r̲m̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲S̲e̲t̲s̲
The sets are input by the system when the ENTER key
is pressed.
A set with blank fields only is not stored in the message.
For a normal set (with at least one non-blank field)
the SET ID and the non-blank fields are stored in the
format:
SET ̲ID/field.../field//
or (if more than 69 characters are required):
SET ̲ID/field.../field
/field.../field//
Note that each field is headed by a slash (/) and that
the set is terminated by a double slash (//).
For a columnar set (with at least one non-blank field)
the SET ̲ID, the COLUMN HEADING and the fields from
each line containing non-blank fields are stored in
the format:
SET ̲ID
/HEAD1 HEAD2 HEAD3 ...
/field field field ...
/field field field ...
...
/field field field ... //
The column heading and each field line is headed by
a slash (/) while the set is terminated by a double
slash (//). The column set-up of column heading and
fields is the same as displayed on the VDU.
A non-blank text set is stored literally as entered
on the VDU.
3.9.3.3 V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
An error message is displayed in the response line
if all fields are blank when the ENTER key is pressed.
The operator must perform the required repetition in
the format before the data are entered. The repetitions
must be performed starting from the innermost level
(i.e. lines, line groups, sets, segments).
Insertion or deletion of an item (line, line group,
set or segment) is not possible if the item is surrounded
by an item which has been repeated. An error message
is displayed in the response line if an insertion or
deletion of this kind is attempted.
3.9.4 M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲P̲r̲o̲c̲e̲s̲s̲i̲n̲g̲
When the text portion has been entered the decision
format A-3 is displayed, and the message is now treated
exactly as a message prepared by the PRNM (or CTMP)
command (see section 3.4.3).
The text portion of the message prepared is in the
stored form described above. If the message is again
displayed on the VDU (e.g. by continue message preparation)
the text portion will be displayed in the stored form.
