Subject: Request for quotation for the supply of 182 medium
speed printers and 16 line printers.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You are hereby invited to submit a quotation for the supply
of the above equipment in accordance with the specifications
and conditions stated below.
1 GENERAL TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1 TEMPEST REQUIREMENTS
--------------------
The equipment offered shall have obtained a certificate
of compliance with NATO Comsec tempest requirements
from national authorities.
If, however, modifications to a certified standard
version of a piece of equipment, is required in order
to comply with the requirements of this RFQ, it is
acceptable that tempest certification will apply to
the standard version, and only supplementary test data
confirming that the tempest integrity has been maintained
will be required for the modified version.
1.2 POWER INPUT
-----------
The equipment shall be capable of satisfying the specified
performance requirements when operating with the following
power input.
1.2.1 Phases: Single-phase, and ground.
1.2.2 Voltage:
Nominal value: 220 VAC or 240 VAC
Tolerances: + 10%/-15%
1.2.3 Frequency:
Nominal value: 50 Hz
Tolerances: +5/-5 Hz
1.2.4 Harmonic Distortion: 5%
1.2.5 Transients:
Non-repetitive impulsive inteference with a magnitude
not to exceed 500 volts, pulse rise and fall times
not faster than 10 microseconds and a total duration
of maximum 1 millisecond. The available impulse energy
at the equipment power inlet shall not exceed 5 J.
1.3 ENVIRONMENT
-----------
The equipment shall be capable of satisfying the specified
performance requirements when operating in the following
environment.
1.3.1 Temperature: 10 - 40 degrees celsius
1.3.2 Humidity: 40 - 90% RH, non-condensing
2 SPECIFIC TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
2.1 MEDIUM SPEED PRINTER
--------------------
The medium speed teleprinters for the system are receive
only (RO) printers. They shall have the following characteristics
as a minimum.
2.1.1 Printing Format
---------------
80 char. per line, 6 lines per inch. Characters formed
by a 7 x 9 dot matrix.
2.1.2 Printing Speed
--------------
120 char. per second, and a throughput of 60 full 80
char. lines per minute.
By the high printing speed combined with input characters
buffer, the printer shall be able to handle 20 lines
of 15 characters at 600 Bps without loss of characters.
2.1.3 Interface
---------
The printer shall be equipped with both a V24/V28 interface
and a V24/optical interface.
In case the optical interface is not a standard feature
or for reasons of standardization the supplier may
be requested to incorporate a customer supplied V24/optical
interface.
The interface requirements further stipulate an asynchronous
interface with speed up to 1200 Bps.
The electrical interface specification shall comply
with the CCITT V28 recommendation concerning the data-
and control signal voltage polarities. All other characteristics
are constrained by the MIL-STD-188C standard (low level)
digital interface specification.
The functional interface specification shall comply
with the CCITT V24 recommendation.
The available interchange circuits shall be at least:
101 Protective Ground
102 Signal Ground
103 Transmitted Data
104 Received Data
105 RTS
106 CTS
107 Data Set Ready
108.2 Data Terminal Ready
The communication shall be asynchronous.
The interface connector shall be a cannon DB-25 or
equivalent.
2.1.4 Character Code
--------------
US ASCII - 64 characters printed.
2.1.5 Key Function
------------
The printers shall be equipped with a security key
function. All locks shall be individual and the key
removable.
2.1.6 Warning Signals
---------------
Audio alarm, paper out indicator. Security key status
signal available on interface, upon request from the
host by means of a command.
2.1.7 Paper Control
-------------
Automatic line feed on carriage return, form feed and
vertical tabulation.
2.1.8 Acoustic Noise
--------------
Below 60 dBa.
2.1.9 MTBF
----
More than 3000 hours, downtime not to exceed 30 mins.
per month exclusive preventive maintenance.
2.2 LINE PRINTERS
-------------
The systems shall be equipped with a line printer,
which shall have the following characteristics as a
minimum.
2.2.1 Speed
-----
300 lines per minute with 100 characters per line.
2.2.2 Paper Control
-------------
Tractor feed, vertical format control.
2.2.3 Interface
---------
V24/V28
2.2.4 Key Function
-------------
The printers shall be equipped with a security key
function.
