1 S̲C̲O̲P̲E̲
The scope of this plan is to define On-The-Job-Training
for operators and maintenance technicians on CAMPS
sites.

2.1 T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲S̲T̲R̲A̲T̲E̲G̲Y̲
The On-The-Job Training (OJT) for operators and maintenance
technicians is a follow-up training of the initial
formal training.
The scope of the On-The-Job Training is to provide
a self-paced and self-guided training in the operation
and maintenance of the CAMPS system.
The training is based on the operational requirements
of the system, the maintenance plan, and the approved
spare parts list applicable for the site.
The OJT-packages provide a training framework, assigning
self-study, practical tasks, and exercises/tests for
the student.
2.2 T̲R̲A̲I̲N̲I̲N̲G̲ ̲E̲Q̲U̲I̲P̲M̲E̲N̲T̲
The training equipment used for OJT is the equipment
available at the site which may be either in operational
mode, in stand-by, or off-line mode.
When using equipment in operational mode, it is the
responsibility of the customer to determine, what effect
the OJT may have on the operational status, and when
OJT can be carried out.

OJT-packages are developed for operators and maintenance
technicians.
The OJT-packages are divided into two types:
- One group of packages is concerned with the operation
of the CAMPS system from the Supervisor/MDCO/MSO
and User positions.
- Another group is concerned with the computer system,
and peripherals selected according to the spare
parts philosophy.
Table 3.1 shows the interrelationship between the personnel
groups and the OJT-packages.
The first part of the OJT-packages for the Medium Speed
Printer (MSP) and the Visual Display Unit (VDU) is
applicable for both operators and maintenance technicians,
as this part is describing the operation of the unit
in stand-alone mode. The rest of these packages is
applicable for the maintenance technicians only.
Therefore, operators should start OJT doing the first
part of the packages for MSP and VDU before doing the
package designed for the respective position they are
assigned to operate.

Each OJT-package provides a framework for the assignment
of self-paced tasks and study of applicable manuals.
The major sections of the packages are:
- Introduction
- Operation
- Maintenance (hardware related packages)
Each section is divided into subsections, containing
the assignment of self-study of relevant manuals, practical
tasks, and multiple-choise tests.
The goals of the instruction are stated at the beginning
of each subsection. The job-assignments are stated,
defining the section(s) of applicable manuals which
shall be read or referred to.
When tests have been completed, results should be discussed
with the OJT-supervisor who decides if training can
continue or if parts of the training should be repeated.
5 O̲J̲T̲ ̲S̲U̲P̲E̲R̲V̲I̲S̲I̲O̲N̲
It is the responsibility of the OJT-supervisor to:
- decide if the responsibility of the system allows
the use of parts of the system for OJT.
- introduce new students to the OJT procedures and
conditions which may have impact on the training.
- check student progress by:
a) discussing test results with the student and
make the student repeat parts of the training
or continue the training.
b) supervising that the students carry out some
of the practical tasks or exercises.
- control that operational status is reestablished
after OJT.
- log student progress
- check that security of the system is not violated.
The OJT-supervisor is the Resident Site Technician,
or other appointed personnel with the necessary qualifications.
