QA REPORT
…02……02…
QA has made some observations on the CAMPS which we
find necessary to report:
1̲ ̲ ̲S̲Y̲S̲T̲E̲M̲ ̲D̲E̲S̲I̲G̲N̲
The System Design specification issued by CAMPS (CPS/SDS/001)
has been evaluated by QA. Two aspects of the spec.
have been attended to:
a) The Design/Requireemnt compliancy
b) The format and content of the document
…02…ad. a) QA has n̲o̲t̲ found any discrepancy between the requirement
and the system design.
…02…ad. b) QA has had several remarks to the document and most
of them have lead to changes: Two open points although
remain, and these are considered severe enough to deny
QA approval of the document.
…02…The points are:
…02……02…1) In section 4.8.1.2 a data structure is given the name
"Item". QA finds it very confusing that a word which
normally has a very general meaning is defined as designator
for a very specific item. It is difficult if not impossible
to distinguish where in the text the word refers to
an item of general nature and where to an "Item".
…02……02…2) Section 2.4 is according to the standard (CPS/STD/002)
supposed to contain Design and Construction characteristics
- instead only a reference to the requirement is found.
Stating the intention to fulfil the requirement can
not be considered a proper design.
2̲.̲ ̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲F̲I̲G̲U̲R̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲M̲A̲N̲A̲G̲E̲M̲E̲N̲T̲
Several changes have been issued to the CAMPS System
Requirement Specification and to CAMPS plans. These
documents should be under configuration management
meaning that the change control procedure outlined
in the Configuration Management Plan should be followed.
This means that the processing of DN's /ECO's shall
be managed by the Configuration Manager and shall be
approved by a Change Control Board.
There is although no evidence of the existence of a
CCB and CM tells on inquiry that DN's are not presented
to him for processing.
QA finds it mandatory that improvements take place
in this area very quickly.
3̲.̲ ̲ ̲I̲N̲F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲F̲L̲O̲W̲ ̲
According to CAMPS Quality Assurance Plan para 2f.
it is the responsibility of the project management
to inform QA about activities in the project. Very
little information is although given except on direct
inquiry or via rumors; making it rather difficult for
QA to follow the progress of the project.
It is recommended that regular status meetings are
resumed as participation in such meetings gives much
better information.
