2. Terminal mode transitions
1̲ ̲ ̲T̲E̲R̲M̲I̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲E̲S̲
A terminal position shall be considered to be in one
of the following modes of operation:
- Receive mode
- Response mode
- Release mode
- Interactive mode
a) R̲e̲c̲e̲i̲v̲e̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲e̲
In receive mode the user shall be able to request
the display of transactions queued to the terminal
position in the receive queue.
b) R̲e̲s̲p̲o̲n̲s̲e̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲e̲
In response mode the user shall be able to request
the display of transactions queued to the terminal
position in the Response queue.
c) R̲e̲l̲e̲a̲s̲e̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲e̲
In release mode the releaser shall be able to request
the display of transactions queued to the terminal
position in the release queue. For each displayed
transaction the release shall have the capability
of entering his release decision.
d) I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲a̲c̲t̲i̲v̲e̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲e̲
In interactive mode the user shall be able to invoke
any of the interactive transactions (formats: A,
C1, G1, G3, H, M, N, O, P1, Q R) as available from
the terminal position.
e) In table 1 through 3 the formats applicable to
each mode for respective the Message preparation,
the Message release and the message reception capability
are tabulated.
