The purpose of the standard is to define the general
lines for incoming inspection of Video Display Units
(VDU's). The standard is especially directed towards
equipment purchased from other suppliers as mainly
"off the shelf" equipment.
2̲ ̲ ̲S̲U̲R̲V̲E̲Y̲
2.1…02…F̲L̲O̲W̲ ̲C̲H̲A̲R̲T̲
The flow chart fig. 2.1.1 outlines the flow from the
reception to stock. The following chapters will chronologically
define the requirements to every single step in the
diagram.
3̲ ̲ ̲P̲A̲C̲K̲A̲G̲E̲D̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
3.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Packaged Inspection", point 1, is being performed
to:
a) Ensure that the external packaging does not show
any sign of transportation damaging.
b) Ensure that the packaging is according to the requirements
specified for the supplier.
3.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) The package shall be opened by the use of relevant
tools and the contents is separated and checked
in according to SD/STD/017
b) In case of abnormalities a Non-Conformance Report
shall be filled in and the unit shall pass by to
"Special Inspection", point 2.
4̲.̲ ̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲A̲L̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
4.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Special Inspection", point 2, is being performed
when the packaging shows signs of transportation damaging.
4.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
The package shall be opened very carefully to prevent
any further damaging to the contents.
a) The VDU shall be examined in details and all remarks
shall be stated in the Non-Conformance Report.
b) In case of destructive damaging and that no repair
seems possible the unit shall be returned to the
vendor (Point 3)
c) In case of minor repairable defects the unit passes
by to "Functional Test" (Point 6).
5. R̲E̲T̲U̲R̲N̲ ̲T̲O̲ ̲V̲E̲N̲D̲O̲R̲
5.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Return to Vendor", point 3, is being performed
when unrepairable defects or electrical malfunctions
are found in "Special Inspection", point 2 and 4 or
"Special Functional Test", point 7.
5.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
Defect items can only be returned to the vendor by
a MRB-decision.
6. I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲T̲E̲N̲T̲S̲
6.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Inspection of Contents", point 4, is being performed
to assume that the presented hardware is according
to the specified requirements.
6.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) The VDU shall be examined in details to assume
that no internal or external parts have been damaged
during transportation and handling.
b) The workmanship shall be in accordance to the stated
and accepted requirements.
c) In case of abnormalities a Non-Conformance Report
shall be filled in and the unit shall pass by to
the "Special Inspection", point 5.
7̲ ̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲A̲L̲ ̲I̲N̲S̲P̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
7.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Special Inspection", point 5, is being performed
when non-conforming remarks are found during "Inspection
of Contents", point 4.
7.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) The VDU shall be examined in details and all abnormalities
shall be filled in the Non-Conformance Report.
b) In case of destructive demaging and no repair seems
possible, the unit shall be returned to the vendor
(Point 3)
c) In case of minor repairable defects the unit passes
by to "Functional Test" (Point 6).
8. F̲U̲N̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
8.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Functional Test", point 6, is being performed
to assume that all electrical and electronic functions
fulfil the requirements.
8.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) In case of a separated keyboard it shall be connected
to the unit.
b) All functional keyboard functions shall be verified
according to the presented Operators Manual and
Maintenance Manual.
c) In case of remarks a Non-Conformance Report shall
be filled in and the concerned unit shall pass
by to the "Special Functional Test", point 7.
9. S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲A̲L̲ ̲F̲U̲N̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲
9.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Special Functional Test", point 7, is being performed
when non-conforming remarks are found during "Functional
Test", point 6.
D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) All functions shall be tested carefully according
to the presented manuals to locate failure(s)
b) In case of non-repairable failure the unit shall
be returned to the vendor (Point 3).
c) In case of minor repairable defects i.e. change
of a module the unit after repair passes by to
"Repacking", point 8.
1̲0̲ ̲ ̲R̲E̲P̲A̲C̲K̲I̲N̲G̲
10.1 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲
The "Repacking", point 8, is performed after acceptance
of the unit.
10.2 D̲E̲T̲A̲I̲L̲E̲D̲
a) The repacking is performed to assume that the packaging
is according to the transportation environments
stated in the requirements for the concerned equipment.
b) After repacking the units are kept in the stock
until transportation.
