The Protocol Converter is transparent to most of the
fields in the E1 format. Therefore the testmessages
constructed to test the PC haveonly to vary in a few
parameters.
PC is dealing with the following parameters:
1) SCI - Station Channel Identifier
2) TYP - Message Type
3) CLS - Message Classification
4) PRC - Message Precedence
1.1 S̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲C̲h̲a̲n̲n̲e̲l̲ ̲I̲d̲e̲n̲t̲i̲f̲i̲e̲r̲ ̲-̲ ̲S̲C̲I̲
he SCI value from the E1-format is repeated in the
CCIS segment header at the field of the channel designator
- CDN.
From the logon-command PC preserves a value for each
link of the SCI. During transmission this value is
checked against incomming CI values.
The reactions upon wrong SCI values shall be checked
in the test procedures by changing to a false CCIS
configuration.
1.2 M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲T̲y̲p̲e̲-̲T̲Y̲P̲
In the TPR of PC the testexamples shall vary the TYP
value between all legal and one false vaue. Notice
that the transaction acknowledgement is not present,
since it is functionally substituted by the Super-ack
from the dindac protocol.
TEST MESSAGE TYP TYP

1 C Display in E1

5 M Narrative message in E1
6 N Data message in E1

9 Q Susdup narrative message in

10 R Susdup data message in E1
10.1 W Wrong Type
…06…1 …02… …02… …02… …02…
These eleven messages shall be classified as U for
unclassified and given precedence R for routine.
1.3 M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲C̲l̲a̲s̲s̲i̲f̲i̲c̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲-̲C̲L̲S̲
In the TPR of PC the test examples shall vary the CS
value between all legal values. This gives th following
messages:
TEST MESSAGE CLS CLS
EXAMPLE NO VALUE NAME
11 R Restricted
12 C Confidential
13 S Secret
14 T Cosmic top secret
…06…1 …02… …02… …02… …02…
These four messages shall be given precedence R for
routine and the type shall be N for a data message
in E1.…86…1 …02… …02… …02… …02…
1.4 M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲ ̲P̲r̲e̲c̲e̲d̲e̲n̲c̲e̲-̲P̲R̲C̲
In the TPR of PC the testexamples shall vary the PRC
value between all legal values. This imply the following
messages:
TEST MESSAGE PRC PRC
EXAMPLE NO VALUE NAME
15 P Priority
16 O Immediate
17 Z Flash
18 Y Emergency
These four messages shall be classified as U for unclassified
and they shall be of type N for a data message in E1.
1.5 T̲o̲o̲ ̲L̲o̲n̲g̲ ̲M̲e̲s̲s̲a̲g̲e̲s̲
For demonstration of the handling byPC of too long
messages, the following test messages are used:
TEST MESSAGE TYPE SIZE
EXAMPLE NO.
…0c… 19 E1-comment 2005
20 E1-data 1200
These two messages shall be classified U for unclassified
and given precedence R for routine.
The message size limits are 12004 characters for long
messages (types M,N,Q,R) and 2000 for short messages.
Test message 19 is an example of an ovesized short
message, and test message 20 is an example of an oversized
long message.
1.6 T̲S̲N̲,̲ ̲T̲r̲a̲n̲s̲a̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲S̲e̲q̲u̲e̲n̲c̲e̲ ̲N̲u̲m̲b̲e̲r̲
In all the descriptions of test-messages the TSN-value
is written as number: XXX. Other values will be chosen
in the scenaros and test steps, so that the numbering
will be from one to the end value during the test.
