                     1̲ ̲ ̲I̲N̲T̲R̲O̲D̲U̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲

         The Back Panel type 8 is preformed to be the interface
         link between the application equipment and the I/O-array
         of the I/O-modules in the CTX-Crate.

         Back Panel type 8 can be strapped as DTE or DCE Back
         Panel.

         As shown on figure 1-1, the Back Panel is mounted on
         the back side of the CTX-Crate and connected to the
         motherboard via a 64 wire flatcable. Protection ground
         (CCITT NO. 101) can be connected by a groundwire.

         Connectors for the external cable connections are four
          25 pin (female) Cannon.

         No electrical circuits are mounted on the Back Panel
         but all signal lines are according to CCITT-V24 Recommendations.



2.3      M̲E̲C̲H̲A̲N̲I̲C̲A̲L̲ ̲I̲N̲T̲E̲R̲F̲A̲C̲E̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲.̲

         The Back Panel type 8 consists of a PC-Board, fixed
         on a metallic panel to be mounted on the rear of a
         CTX-Crate (Figure 1-1).

         The connector interface against the Motherboard is
         a 64 pin connector.  Pin is marked by an arrow and
         will always be upwards.  Each line communication channel
         has allocated four ground wires of the 64 wire flatcable
         to perform a proper signal ground.  Protection Ground
         taken from the power supply has to be connected to
         the Back Panel via a Spade Connector.

6.1      J̲U̲M̲P̲E̲R̲

         Straps on the PC-Board can be made by using 2 POL.
         Jumpers, such as AMP 141767-1 CR P/N 6.25500-00.



6.2      6̲4̲ ̲W̲I̲R̲E̲ ̲F̲L̲A̲T̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲E̲

         The connection between motherboard and Back Panel can
         be made by Intern. Kable type 1 CR P/N 5.05316-10 (28
         CM), or by Intern. Kable type 2 CR P/N 5.05316-11 (35
         CM) depending on placement on the rear crate.



6.3      G̲r̲o̲u̲n̲d̲ ̲W̲i̲r̲e̲

         Ground for the Back Panel can be taken from the Motherboard
         by using Ground wire for BP-8 CR P/N 7.58101-03
