4.7.1 I̲n̲t̲r̲o̲d̲u̲c̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Section 4.7.1 describes the
- Purpose
- Characteristic
- Operation
of the offline M&D test programs.
a) P̲u̲r̲p̲o̲s̲e̲
The purpose of the offline test programs is to
help the maintenance personnel pinpoint a hardware
malfunction to a module/unit and to verify that
a tested module/unit is able to function properly.
b) C̲h̲a̲r̲a̲c̲t̲e̲r̲i̲s̲t̲i̲c̲
The test programs are characterized as o̲f̲f̲l̲i̲n̲e̲
test programs. This means that the activated test
programs requires total control of a Processor
Unit (PU), i.e. it is necessary to take the standby
PU offline before operating the offline test programs.
c) O̲p̲e̲r̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
The offline test programs are stored on a storage
medium (SMD disk pack or floppies). It is, therefore,
necessary to boot the actual test program into
the (offline) Processor Unit (PU) before activating
it.
The boot and activation commands are entered on
the maintenance position VDU. Table 4.7.1-1 shows
schematically the operation of the offline test
programs.
When the program is booted, it outputs: "-- " and
is ready to accept and execute commands.
When a test is stated, then the program takes full
control of the off-line PU and does not accept
commands from the maintenance position VDU before
it has finished the test.
It is, however, possible to stop the test by pressing
the "ATTN" key on the Maintenance Position VDU
keyboard or by pressing the MC button on the MAP
module situated in the Offline PU crate.
Figure 4.7.1-1
4.7.2 U̲s̲e̲r̲ ̲I̲n̲t̲e̲r̲f̲a̲c̲e̲
Section 4.7.2 describes for each of the offline M&D
Test Programs:
- The boot and activation command (section 4.7.2.1).
- The expected output from the Test Programs (section
4.7.2.2).
Certain general rules were described in the "MAINTENANCE
POSITION OPERATION MANUAL" for command entry, editing
and validation. In the following the more specific
rules concerning:
- Data Entry
- Validation
- Data Exit Conditions
are presented.
a) D̲a̲t̲a̲ ̲E̲n̲t̲r̲y̲
It is possible to boot the offline M&D test program
when the DAMOS BootLoader is activated. (This can
be done by pressing the "MC" button on the front
of the MAP Module in the actual PU Crate.
After the test program is booted, the activation
command is entered.
This is done by entering the test command or
Do body
This commandtype is used to activate a testsequence
resident in main memory, i.e. the actual test program
now accepts testcommands from this testsequence
and not from the maintenance position.
When the activated testsequence has finished, command
inputs are again taken from the maintenance position.
b) V̲a̲l̲i̲d̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲
Full validation is performed only after data entry
is complete and ENTERED.
If the entered command is valid the program will
execute the specified commandfile.
If an invoiced command is entered the system will
inform you by providing an errorcode on the VDU
screen.
c) E̲x̲i̲t̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲d̲i̲t̲i̲o̲n̲s̲
If an exit of a test command is wanted then it
is accomplished by pressing the "ATTN" key and
a new command can be entered.
This command activates the DAMOS bootLoader and
a masterclear is issued.
