                         1  S̲C̲O̲P̲E̲

         The scope of this document is to present a Recommended
         Spare Parts List (RSPL), which will support the achievement
         of predicted availability of each site with a condfidence
         level of 80%.









                      2  M̲E̲T̲H̲O̲D̲O̲L̲O̲G̲Y̲



2.1      P̲E̲R̲I̲O̲D̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲S̲U̲P̲P̲O̲R̲T̲

         The PSPL has been prepared for a supply depot, which
         supports three sites for a period of 270 days.



2.2      C̲O̲V̲E̲R̲A̲G̲E̲

         The RSPL is based on the equipment matrix of the three
         sites.



2.3      B̲A̲S̲I̲S̲ ̲F̲O̲R̲ ̲C̲A̲L̲C̲U̲L̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲



2.3.1    S̲i̲t̲e̲ ̲L̲e̲v̲e̲l̲

         No site level spares are recommended
         There is normally a redundant Protocol Converter equipped
         at each site.

2.3.2    D̲e̲p̲o̲t̲ ̲L̲e̲v̲e̲l̲





2.3.2.1  C̲R̲8̲0̲ ̲M̲o̲d̲u̲l̲e̲ ̲S̲p̲a̲r̲e̲s̲

         The depot level RSPL has been prepared to support the
         sites for 270 days. The CR80 modules which are identical
         with parts used in CAMPS equipment are marked with
         an "a" in the RSPL in section 5.



2.3.2.2  P̲e̲r̲i̲p̲h̲e̲r̲a̲l̲ ̲S̲p̲a̲r̲e̲s̲

         It is not considered necessary to recommend a VDU kit
         to support the three VDUs at a depot, which besides
         support about 250 VDUs.



2.3.3    I̲n̲s̲u̲r̲a̲n̲c̲e̲ ̲T̲y̲p̲e̲ ̲I̲t̲e̲m̲s̲

         Insurance type items are items, which though not required
         for pure statistical reasons, must be included for
         operational reasons.



2.4      F̲O̲R̲M̲U̲L̲A̲ ̲F̲O̲R̲ ̲S̲P̲A̲R̲E̲S̲ ̲C̲A̲L̲C̲U̲L̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲

         M̲e̲t̲h̲o̲d̲ ̲t̲o̲ ̲C̲a̲l̲c̲u̲l̲a̲t̲e̲ ̲N̲u̲m̲b̲e̲r̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲S̲p̲a̲r̲e̲s̲

         In order to determine the number of spares it will
         be assumed that the failure rate of each module (circuit
         board) has an exponential distribution. This approximation
         holds true for electronis equipment throughout its
         useful life, i.e. wear-out phenomena can be ignored.

         Thus the probability mass function for each module
         is:

             p(t) = (1/MTBF) x exp(-t/MTBF)

         where MTBF is the Mean Time Between Failure for that
         module.

         It can be shown that the probability of observing exactly
         i failures over a period of t operating hours are given
         by the Poisson distribution:

         The Period t corresponds to the accumulated operating
         period for the involved modules.

         Therefore, the probability of observing r or less failures
         during a period t is determined by the cumulative Poisson
         distribution:

         To determine the number of spares r required to obtain
         an 80% confidence level for a period of 90 days is
         equivalent to determining the minimal r for which the

         period covered is less than 20%.

3.1      P̲R̲I̲C̲I̲N̲G̲



3.1.1    P̲r̲i̲c̲e̲ ̲B̲a̲s̲i̲s̲

         The applicable CR unit prices for this bid are current
         Customer List Prices as given in CR's standard customer
         price list.

         All prices in this RSPL are per 1st May, 1982.

         Component prices are at cost and does not include handling
         and mark up.



3.1.2    F̲o̲r̲w̲a̲r̲d̲ ̲P̲r̲i̲c̲i̲n̲g̲

         The forward pricing factor to be applied to above unit
         prices is 1% per month.



3.1.3    T̲e̲r̲m̲s̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲D̲e̲l̲i̲v̲e̲r̲y̲

         Prices are ex works (Ballerup)



3.2      V̲A̲L̲I̲D̲I̲T̲Y̲

         This bid for supply of spare parts in accordance with
         the RSPL is open for acceptance until 60 days after
         the receipt of an acceptable RSPL.



3.3      D̲E̲L̲I̲V̲E̲R̲Y̲

         After production testing, CR will put the spares in
         storage. By this event SHAPE takes title to the spares.





3.4      T̲E̲S̲T̲I̲N̲G̲

         Production testing of CR spares will be performed according
         to CR's normal production test procedures.



3.5      T̲O̲O̲L̲S̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲T̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲E̲Q̲U̲I̲P̲M̲E̲N̲T̲ ̲(̲T̲E̲)̲

         Spares for tools and TE are not incorporated.
