1.       I̲N̲T̲R̲O̲D̲U̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲

         The Systems Group of Christian Rovsing A/S has a support
         division named ILS Division (Integrated Logistics Support).
          ILS undertakes the following work:

         o   Installation, Site Preparation, and Transportation
         o   Maintenance and Field Support
         o   Training and Documentation
         o   Software Support

         ILS supports all System Division projects with above
         services. Additionally, ILS supports major programs
         in other divisions of Christian Rovsing A/S such as
         the AADN (American Airlines Data Network) and ACDN
         (Air Canada Data Network).

         ILS Division also holds several 5th Echelon repair
         contracts with NATO and the Danish Military.

         Furthermore, the training department of ILS conducts
         all internal training within the corporation.



2.       O̲R̲G̲A̲N̲I̲Z̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲

         The organization of the ILS Division is shown in Figure
         1 with indication of major responsibilities.

         All ILS personnel have a security clearence to at least
         NATO SECRET. Maintenance, installation, and software
         support teams have a higher clearance determined by
         the project in question.

         The following sections describe the general responsibilities
         of the 4 functional areas on a typical, major military
         program.

3.       I̲N̲S̲T̲A̲L̲L̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲D̲E̲P̲A̲R̲T̲M̲E̲N̲T̲

         On programs involving medium to large sized ADP systems,
         the Installation Department will perform the following
         tasks:

         o   Conduct Site Survey
         o   Generate Civil Works Requirements
         o   Generate As-Built Drawings
         o   Perform Site Verification
         o   Perform Installation and Check-out

         The Civil Works Requirements package contains the necessary
         details for the customer to draft work specifications
         for local contractors.  As-Built Drawings show how
         the specific installation has been made.



         T̲r̲a̲n̲s̲p̲o̲r̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲I̲n̲s̲t̲a̲l̲l̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲

         The Installation Department is responsible for transportation
         of the equipment from the CR factory to the site. This
         includes packaging and transportation. Preparation
         of shipping documentation and packaging of equipment
         are performed in the Shipping Section within the Installation
         Department. CR utilizes the service of a freight forwarder
         to handle the details of the shipments.

         The Installation Department has several teams of experienced
         installers who are capable of performing hardware installation
         as well as extensive system tests to verify that the
         equipment is functioning in accordance with specifications
         (check-out).

         In conjunction with equipment installation the installation
         team will conduct a property inventory check (spare
         parts, documentation etc.).





         P̲a̲c̲k̲a̲g̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲R̲e̲q̲u̲i̲r̲e̲m̲e̲n̲t̲s̲

         The Installation Section is also responsible for the
         development of Packaging Requirements for all types
         of shipments to the sites. The requirements are formulated
         in a procedure.

         Special packaging instructions are specified for shipment
         of repairable items.



4.       M̲A̲I̲N̲T̲E̲N̲A̲N̲C̲E̲ ̲D̲E̲P̲A̲R̲T̲M̲E̲N̲T̲

         The Maintenance Department of the ILS Division is responsible
         for giving appropriate input to Systems Engineering
         to ensure that the systems developed will meet the
         requirements for maintainability. Furthermore, the
         Maintenance Department will give support to the group
         writing the Maintenance and Diagnostic Software.

         The Maintenance Department will work closely with Systems
         Engineering to ensure consistency in determination
         of the MTBF (mean time between failure), and MTTR (mean
         time to replace) figures.  Furthermore, the departmemt
         will carry out a Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) if
         required by the program.

         Writing the Maintenance Plan and associated procedures
         is also the responsibility of the Maintenance Department.

         In the area of deliverable documentation the department
         will generate the Maintenance Manual.

         F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲S̲u̲p̲p̲o̲r̲t̲

         Field Support includes:

         o   Implementation of field changes

         o   Assistance to customer's technical personel with
             respect to hardware problems

         o   Warranty repairs



         At time of writing, ILS is setting up a complete repair
         facility in the US for depot repair of CR80 subassemblies.
         The facility is equipped with the same type of test
         equipment as used by CR at their factory in Denmark.

         The US facility will repair subassemblies from our
         North American customers.

         S̲p̲a̲r̲e̲s̲ ̲M̲a̲n̲a̲g̲e̲m̲e̲n̲t̲

         The Maintenance Department is responsible for the specification,
         acquisition, packaging and delivery of spares, repair
         parts and repairable subassemblies. Normally, a priced
         Recommended Spare Parts List (RSPL) will be submitted
         to the customer. Provisioning ̲Conferences will be planned
         and conducted by the Maintenance Department.

         Spare Parts Design Change Notices (SPDCN) will be issued
         and controlled by the Maintenance Department.

         C̲o̲d̲i̲f̲i̲c̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲S̲u̲p̲p̲l̲y̲ ̲I̲t̲e̲m̲s̲

         Codification (assignment of NATO or other stock numbers)
         will be carried out by the Maintenance Departmemt.

         T̲o̲o̲l̲s̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲T̲e̲s̲t̲s̲ ̲E̲q̲u̲i̲p̲m̲e̲n̲t̲

         The Maintenance Department will specify all tools and
         test equipment to be supplied under the contract. Fur-
         thermore, a priced list of tools and test equipment
         will be submitted to the customer for all items required
         at each installation and repair depot to support the
         equipment delivered.

         F̲a̲i̲l̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲R̲e̲p̲o̲r̲t̲i̲n̲g̲

         Generation and implementation of a Failure Reporting
         System is the responsibility of the Maintenance Department.
          All incoming reports will be recorded and analyzed
         and the corrective action coordinated with the customer.

         M̲a̲i̲n̲t̲e̲n̲a̲n̲c̲e̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲t̲r̲a̲c̲t̲s̲

         The Maintenance Department will establish a maintenance
         contract in cases when the customers do not have technicians

5.       T̲r̲a̲i̲n̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲D̲o̲c̲u̲m̲e̲n̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲D̲e̲p̲a̲r̲t̲m̲e̲n̲t̲

         The Training and Documentation Department is responsible
         for all training offered by the Systems Group.  Furthermore,
         courses are developed and conducted for the major programs
         in the Communications Division.  The following types
         of courses have been developed and conducted:

         o   Systems Courses

         o   Hardware maintenance

         o   Software maintenance

         o   Programming

         o   On-the-job training

         o   Operator courses.

         The courses are developed in accordance with contractual
         requirements. The ratio of theory to hands-on traning
         is usually 1/1.

         I̲n̲-̲H̲o̲u̲s̲e̲ ̲T̲r̲a̲i̲n̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲

         Christian Rovsing A/S has nominated the Training and
         Documentation Department of the ILS Division to carry
         out all in-house training.  These activities include:

         o   CR80 Hardware Theory

         o   CR80 Hardware Maintenance

         o   Programming Courses such as SWELL, PASCAL, DAMOS,
             and AMOS Operating Systems.

         Furthermore, the Training and Documentation Department
         is planning and managing a program of video courses
         offered to the entire company.  In addition, regular
         courses are offered in Technical Presentation and personal
         development.

         T̲r̲a̲i̲n̲i̲n̲g̲ ̲F̲a̲c̲i̲l̲i̲t̲i̲e̲s̲

         The Training and Documentation Department is coordinating
         the company's training facilities and equipment.

         The section has several CR80 computer systems primarily
         for software training.  Systems have eight terminals
         allowing simultaneous hands-on training of eight students.

         One of the class rooms is equipped with the necessary
         video equipment used in the Video courses.

         M̲a̲n̲u̲a̲l̲s̲ ̲a̲n̲d̲ ̲H̲a̲n̲d̲b̲o̲o̲k̲s̲

         The Training and Documentation Department writes the
         deliverable manuals and handbooks for all projects
         undertaken by the System and Communication Divisions.

         The department has its own staff of technical writers
         who develop the manuals based on the project documentation.
          Manuals are developed in accordance with NATO and
         other military standards.  Figure 5 shows an example
         of deliverable documentation on a major communication
         project.

         The text is stored in a wordprocessor for ease of updating.



6.       S̲O̲F̲T̲W̲A̲R̲E̲ ̲S̲U̲P̲P̲O̲R̲T̲ ̲D̲E̲P̲A̲R̲T̲M̲E̲N̲T̲

         The primary responsibilty of the Software Department
         is to provide software maintenance on all projects
         in the Systems Group.

         Additionally, the Software Support Department is responsible,
         together with the Maintenance Department, for workable
         maintenance and diagnostic programs.

         Furthermore, the department will suppot ILS's own internal
         software activities.

         F̲a̲i̲l̲u̲r̲e̲ ̲R̲e̲p̲o̲r̲t̲i̲n̲g̲

         o   Recording, analyzing, and execution of corrective
             action in connection with incoming failure reports.

         o   Implementation of software changes.

         o   Assistance to customer's personnel with respect

             kind.

             the Maintenance Department.

         o   Necessary software support to ILS's Training Department.

         o   Development of tools for ILS administrative purposes.
