4.1      I̲N̲T̲R̲O̲D̲U̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲

The objective of corrective maintenance is to detect
whenever an error has occurred, perform the necessary
repair, and bring the sstem back to normal operation.
This is achieved by using the structured troubleshooting
         procedures.

An overview of the corrective maintenance tasks is
         given in Table 4.1-1.

The tasks are briefly explained below.

The error printout on the mainenance position printer
will provide an entry point to a particular troubleshooting
procedure and by following the descriptions outlined,
the error will be isolated to a particular module.
This is then interchanged with a spare module. A verificatin
test is performed before reloading the application
programs and bringing the system back to normal operation.

The structure of Chapter 4 is as follows:

         -   Section 4.2 describes a hardware (H/W) breakdown
of the CAMPS system into 5 sub-systems.Each of
the sub-systems is a logically separated unit which
is the first step in the error isolation.
This section gives an overview of the H/W included
in each of the logical sub-systems in which the
             Off-line Troubleshooting Tree is divided.
