3.2 Integration of general administrative software.
Results from one administrative system may be used
as input for other systems to provide an extensive
integration of the general administrative environment.
The offered text processing system, Textmaster, has
the capability of reading a standard sequential file
and converting its contents to a text document, thus
providing the possibility of directly using output
from other systems (e.g. spreadsheet calculation program)
as input.
The ORACLE DBMS system also contains aids for reading
a sequential file and storing its contents in the database,
and furthermore the output of a QUERY to the ORACLE
DBMS may be stored in a sequential file.
These capabilities, together with the inherent UNIX
"pipe" (a method of transferring output from one program
to be used directly as input for another program) provide
an extensive integration of the general administrative
environment.
3.2.1.2.3 The redistribution of the text after a change of
format is obtained automatically through a single
command for the entire document.
3.2.1.4.3 A hyphen keyed in by the operator will always be
printed and not interpreted as a control character
for splitting or combining. (e.g. "ord-och textbehandling")
3.2.1.4.4 A hyphen keyed in by the operator will never be
used for splitting a word but will always be printed
(e.g. "1981-02-06").
3.2.1.4.5 A special sign for phantom space does currently
not exist in Textmaster. It is, however, possible
for the operator to quickly and easily adjust the
distribution of characters made by the system to
obtain the desired result, as the screen always
shows the text in its final form.
3.2.1.4.12 An underlining may be easily removed without changing
the rest of the text.
3.2.1.5.2 The final text distribution in lines and pages
as selected by the operator is shown on the screen.
3.2.1.6.2 The operator may select any page(s) of a given
text to be printed out.
3.2.1.6.3 Printout of a text in horizontal A4-format is supported
by Textmaster.
3.2.1.6.5 Page numbering is obtained automatically when printing
a text.
3.2.1.6.6 Document page header may be keyed in once and automatically
added to all printed pages.
3.2.1.6.7 Document page footer may be keyed in once and
automatically added to all printed pages.
3.2.1.7 The remaining storage space on the secondary memory
is easily obtained through a single command.
3.2.2 Storage Registers.
3.2.2.1 The offered Data Base Management Stystem (ORACLE) is
extremely well suited as a true multi-user storage
handler.
3.2.2.2 ORACLE contains functions for
- Creation of a data base
- Creation of data storage
- Form creation and editing
- Data input and storage
- Data search (Query)
- Report and Generator
3.2.2.3 The basic functions of ORACLE do not require operators
with prior EDP knowledge.
3.2.2.4 The DBMS can exchange data with the other software
systems offered.
3.2.2.5 ORACLE is a true multi-user DBMS.
3.2.2.6 Automatic locking is performed at item level.
3.2.2.7 The relational DBMS ORACLE provides simultaneous acess
to all information stored under ORACLE. ORACLE uses
the balanced B-tree index method for physical storage
of data and indexes.
3.2.2.8 The required memory depends on the data base definition.
The proposed CR32 configurations contain sufficient
memory.
3.2.2.9 All users on a CR32 may simultaneously access ORACLE.
3.2.2.10 The available amount of storage depends on the available
on-line disk capacity.
3.2.2.11 The size of each register is dynamically set.
3.2.2.12 The data base definition may be changed at any time.
Extensive changes may require a data base unload and
reload.
3.2.2.13 If pre-check of input data is desired, an input module
can be defined by use of the ORACLE Application Generator.
3.2.2.14 Any manipulation of ORACLE data can be described for
execution by the ORACLE Application Generator.
3.2.2.15 Apart from the mentioned Application Generator, ORACLE
contains pre-compilers permitting interfacing from
ordinary high-level languages.
3.2.2.16 A Report Generator is included.
3.2.2.17 The user may freely select or define the format
for output of reports.
3.2.2.18 All relational operators may be used for defination
of search criteria.
3.2.2.19 The user may freely define as many searcher and sort
criteria as he wishes.
3.2.2.20 The user may attach priorities to the specified sort
criteria.
3.2.2.21 The capacities of ORACLE depends on the amount of on-line
disk space. The proposed configuration contains sufficient
disk space for all normal use.
