TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS
The equipment to be supplied under this contract shall meet
the following specifications and requirements listed below:
1̲ ̲ ̲T̲E̲M̲P̲E̲S̲T̲ ̲R̲E̲Q̲U̲I̲R̲E̲M̲E̲N̲T̲S̲
The equipment shall have obtained a certificate of
compliance with NATO Comsec tempest requirements from
national authorities.
If, however, modifications to a certified standard
version of a piece of equipment, is required in order
to comply with the requirements of this contract, it
is acceptable that tempest certification will aplly
to the standard version, and only supplementary test
data confirming that the tempest integrity has been
maintained will be required for the modified version.
2̲ ̲ ̲P̲O̲W̲E̲R̲ ̲I̲N̲P̲U̲T̲
The equipment shall be capable of satisfying the specified
performance requirements when operating with the following
power input.
2.1 V̲O̲L̲T̲A̲G̲E̲
The equipment shall be capable of operating with a
220V AC Single phase as well as a 240V AC Single phase
power supply, both with a tolerance of +10%/-15%.
2.2 F̲R̲E̲Q̲U̲E̲N̲C̲Y̲
Nominal value: 50 Hz
Tolerances: +5/-5 Hz
2.3 H̲A̲R̲M̲O̲N̲I̲C̲ ̲D̲I̲S̲T̲O̲R̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
Max. 5%.
2.4 T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲I̲E̲N̲T̲S̲
Non-repetitive impulsive inteference with a magnitude
not to exceed 500 volts, pulse rise and fall times
not faster than 10 microseconds and a total duration
of maximum 1 millisecond. The available impulse energy
at the equipment power inlet shall not exceed 5 J.
2.5 S̲A̲F̲E̲T̲Y̲
Where a voltage of more than 50 Volts is exposed during
the maintenance activities, a suitable warning sign
shall be provided on the equipment.
2.6 G̲R̲O̲U̲N̲D̲I̲N̲G̲
The AC power neutral shall provide a return for the
primary current, so that the equipment frame ground
is used only to establish a safety ground.
3̲ ̲ ̲E̲N̲V̲I̲R̲O̲N̲M̲E̲N̲T̲A̲L̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲D̲I̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
After initial adjustments have been made, the equipment
shall maintain normal operation under worst-case of
the specified environmental listed below:
3.1 A̲M̲B̲I̲E̲N̲T̲ ̲T̲E̲M̲P̲E̲R̲A̲T̲U̲R̲E̲
0 to 50 deg. Celcius.
Rate of change: Max. 10 deg. Celcius per hour.
3.2 R̲E̲L̲A̲T̲I̲V̲E̲ ̲H̲U̲N̲I̲D̲I̲T̲Y̲ ̲(̲R̲H̲)̲
40 to 90%, non-condensing.
Rate of change: Max. 6% RH per hour.
3.3 A̲L̲T̲I̲T̲U̲D̲E̲
Sea level to 2000 meter.
3.4 D̲U̲S̲T̲ ̲A̲N̲D̲ ̲F̲U̲M̲E̲S̲
The equipment shall continue to operate continuously
in the following air environment.

4.1 D̲A̲T̲A̲ ̲L̲I̲N̲K̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲F̲I̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
The electrical interface specification shall comply
with the CCITT V28 recommendation concerning the data-
and control signal voltage polarities. All other characteristics
are constrained by the MIL-STD-188C standard (low level)
digital interface specification. (6-0-6V, 1mA and Waveshaping)
Refer section 8 below. The interface signals must be
free of HF-components.
The functional interface specification shall comply
with the CCITT V24 recommendation.
The available interchange circuits shall be at least:
101 Protective Ground
102 Signal Ground
103 Transmitted Data
104 Received Data
107 Data Set Ready
108.2 Data Terminal Ready
The equipment shall perform as a DTE or DCE device.
The communication is asynchronous.
The interface can receive/transmit 5 - 8 bit code in
transparency.
The interface connector shall be a CANNON DB-25 or
equivalent.
4.2 P̲U̲N̲C̲H̲ ̲F̲E̲A̲T̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
a) Punching speed: up to 60 char./sec.
b) Paper tape: Capable of punching both 11/16 inch.
tape and 1 inch. tape without mechanical change.
c) Control: Equipped with buttons on fron for power
on/off and punch start/stop. Automaitc motor stop
on time and after last character received on interface.
4.3 R̲E̲A̲D̲ ̲F̲E̲A̲T̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
a) Reading Speed: Up to 150 char./sec.
b) Paper Tape: Capable of reading 11/16 inch paper
tape with 5 bit code (IA No. 2) or 1 inch paper
tape with 8 bit code (7 data + 1 parity).
c) Tape Loading: The reader should be suited for both
reeled and non-reeled tape. No mechanical operation
should be needed for changing between the two modes.
d) Control: Equipped with buttons on front for power
on/off, and start/stop of reader. Reader can be
stopped during transmission without loss of characters.
4.4 G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲ ̲F̲E̲A̲T̲U̲R̲E̲S̲
K̲e̲y̲-̲l̲o̲c̲k̲
A key-lock shall be incorporated in the equipment.
All locks shall be individual and the key removable.
When the terminal is locked no reading/punching must
take place.
A unique status signal shall be generated by the terminal
when the terminal is locked or unlocked.
The status signal must be provided as a data string
(2 bytes long).
The just defined status shall also be available upon
request from the host by means of a command.
Additionally, if the host attempts to punch when the
terminal is locked an error code shall be sent to the
host.
5̲ ̲ ̲M̲E̲C̲H̲A̲N̲I̲C̲A̲L̲
The paper-tape puncher/reader shall be a free standing
unit.
6̲ ̲ ̲M̲T̲B̲F̲
The MTBF shall be more than 3000 hours, downtime not
to exceed 30 mins. per month exclusive preventive maintenance.
7̲ ̲ ̲O̲T̲H̲E̲R̲ ̲R̲E̲Q̲U̲I̲R̲E̲M̲E̲N̲T̲S̲
All other specifications will be in accordance with
the applicable manual listed in Special Provisions
paragraph 2 to this contract.

The following part of MIL-STD-188C is applicable to
this specification (Section number refers to the standard).
