         In this section the log records to be created for VDU
         transactions are defined.

         For each transaction the associated format and the
         exact contents of the log record is shown in a tabular
         form.

         The denotation of the indicated field designators is
         described in section 1.1. If a field content denotes
         something special for a specific transaction this is
         listed immediately after the tabular description of
         the log records for each type of VDU transaction, i.e.
         user, security, supervisory.



1.1      D̲E̲N̲O̲T̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲L̲O̲G̲ ̲F̲I̲E̲L̲D̲ ̲C̲O̲N̲T̲E̲N̲T̲S̲ ̲-̲ ̲G̲E̲N̲E̲R̲A̲L̲

         Terminal Designator:     3 alpha characters identifying
                                  the terminal.

         Transaction Serial No.:  3 digit number, incremented
                                  by one for each new transaction.

         Format id:               Identification of the format
                                  being used.

         Log time:                Time of the log event itself.

         Item ref. id:            Identification of the created/accessed
                                  item

         Exit cause:              A code indicating, what caused
                                  the transaction (use of format)
                                  to terminate.

         Classificaton:           Classification of the created/accessed
                                  item.

         Special handling cat.:   Security related special handling
                                  category of the created/accessed
                                  item.

         Start time of trans.:    The time at which the transaction
                                  was initiated.



         Month + day:             Month and day of month at
                                  which a retrieved/appended
                                  item was stored.

         Decision code:           A code indicating, which decision
                                  a release officer took with
                                  respect to a message sent
                                  for release.



1.2      L̲O̲G̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲U̲S̲E̲R̲ ̲T̲R̲A̲N̲S̲A̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲

         The contents of log records for user transactions are
         defined in table 1.2.



1.2.1    D̲e̲n̲o̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲L̲o̲g̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲t̲e̲n̲t̲s̲ ̲-̲ ̲S̲p̲e̲c̲i̲a̲l̲ ̲C̲a̲s̲e̲s̲

         Format M:   The second "Item ref id" identifies the
                     Stored predefined message used for preparation
                     of the item identified by the first "Item
                     ref id" listed. (Message type).

         Format O:   Trans. ser no. is identical to that of
                     the transaction from which the append is
                     requested, i.e. from the corresponding
                     format A or C1.

                     If the message of which part shall be appended
                     to the message under preparation

                     a)  resides on the off-line database both
                         an initial and final log record shall
                         be created.

                     b)  resides on the on-line data base and
                         is available for appending only a final
                         log record shall be created.

                     c)  is unknown to the system, cannot be
                         accessed by the user or cannot due
                         to security be appended only on initial
                         log record shall be created.

         Format H:   If the message/catalog requested to be
                     retrieved:

                     a)  resides on the off-line data base both
                         an initial and final log record shall
                         be created.

                     b)  resides on the on-line data base and
                         is presented to the user only a final
                         log record shall be created.

                     c)  is unknown to the system, cannot be
                         accessed by the user etc. only an initial
                         log record shall be created.

                     Second "item ref id" contains the transaction
                     serial no. applicable to the retrieval
                     request if the retrieval was from the off-line
                     database.

         Format D:   First "item ref id" refers to the message
                     itself, i.e. the message for which release
                     is requested.

                     If the release officer did make a release
                     decision the

                     -   second "Item ref id" refers to the
                         release notifiction (format F)

                     -   the decision code indicates the decision
                         taken, i.e. release, defer, reject.

         Format F:   The first "Item ref id" refers to the message
                     to which the release notification is related.

                     Second "Item ref. id" refers to the release
                     notification itself.

         Dummy:      This log record will be generated if a
                     presentation request is denied due to an
                     unsuccessful security interrogation, i.e



                         When the user requests the next message
                         to be presented from either the display
                         queue, the release queue or the response
                         queue, a dummy log record will be created
                         by the application process. However,
                         this log record will only be reported/stored
                         to the log system if the terminal operating
                         system due to an unsuccessful security
                         interrogation blocks the terminal or
                         signs-off the user.

                         Format id: Indicates the queue release,
                                    response, or receive from
                                    which the msg was requested.



1.3      L̲O̲G̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲S̲E̲C̲U̲R̲I̲T̲Y̲ ̲P̲R̲O̲C̲E̲D̲U̲R̲E̲S̲

         The contents of log records for security procedures
         are defined in table 1.3.



1.3.1    D̲e̲n̲o̲t̲a̲t̲i̲o̲n̲ ̲o̲f̲ ̲L̲o̲g̲ ̲F̲i̲e̲l̲d̲ ̲C̲o̲n̲t̲e̲n̲t̲s̲ ̲-̲ ̲S̲p̲e̲c̲i̲a̲l̲ ̲C̲a̲s̲e̲s̲

         Format I1,  Trans. ser. no: the serial no. of the trans-
         I2:         action to which the interrogation/warning
                     is related.

         Format I1:  User id: if the interrogation was successful
                     this field will contain the user id otherwise
                     the field will be empty.

         SICs:                    The SICs determined by analysis

         Problem code:            A code indicating the reason
                                  for requesting message service.

         Expected station serial  4 digit number identical to
         number:                  the expected channel serial
