This Technical Note contains equipment layout and signal
and power cable distribution for the COMSEC test system
installed at CR's facility.

a) As shown in the equipment layout on dwg ES 3-445
the COMSEC test system consists of:
- 6 EMI racks
- 1 Frequency stabilizer rack
- 9 VDUs
- 9 MSPs
- 1 PTP/PTR
- 1 L/L Terminal
- 1 BID 1000
- 1 Modem
The last three items are provided by SHAPE.
b) The equipment is fed from a power distribution
board (PDB) through a set of power line filters
as shown on dwg ES 3-443. The power line filters
are provided by SHAPE and installed by CR.
The disk units contained in rack A, B, and C are
supplied via frequency stabilizers as shown.
2.1 P̲O̲W̲E̲R̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲I̲N̲G̲
The power cables to the racks A, B, and E are run in
a unperforated metal duct. Between the duct and the
racks the power cables are enclosed in a flexible metal
conduit. The power outlets to the terminals etc. are
normally switched outlets (line + neutral + ground)
and are placed on the side of the duct.
2.2 S̲I̲G̲N̲A̲L̲ ̲C̲A̲B̲L̲I̲N̲G̲
For the signal cabling different kinds of conduits
are used due to the various types of cables and the
requirements to signal cabling (per ref. 1 and ref.
2 documents). Detailed specification of the various
sorts of conduit are found in ref. 3 document. The
signals are shown on dwg ES 3-444.
All Opto-cables are run PVC ducts because only physical
protection is needed. Cables interconnecting the two
3-bay racks (rack C and D) are enclosed in a flexible
ferrous conduit as required. The cables from rack F
to the PTP/PTR and the L/L terminal and the BID 1000
are run in a ferrous tube. The interface between the
tube and rack F is formed by a ferrous box and flexible
metal conduit.
