                                  BYTE

This famous test taken from Byte (1984) is originally targetted
at microcomputers. We don't compile anything but execute a simple
shell script with basic string-manipulation Unix commands : sort,
grep, od, tee, wc. The script is run at first singlely as 1 task,
    then successively as 2, 4, 8, 12, 16 concurrent tasks to measure
the load factor. This test gives some information on multi-user
capability as well as on the quality of Unix implementation and
CPU speed, it is significant in a small multi-user environment.
