.SH DESCRIPTION
.PP
Sx_EntryCreate creates a new window inside \fIparent\fP and arranges
for it to behave as a text entry subwindow. \fIX\fP, \fIy\fP,
\fIwidth\fP, \fIheight\fP, and \fIborder\fP control the location and
size of the new window. Sx_EntryCreate returns the X id
for the new window. The string given by \fIlabel\fP will be displayed at
the left edge of the entry subwindow, and \fItext\fP
will be displayed just to the right of \fIlabel\fP. The user will
be able to edit \fItext\fP by typing in the window.
The entry subwindow will respond to the
control characters ^C (insert selection), ^D (delete selection),
^H or rubout (backspace), ^U (line kill), and ^W (backspace over
word). As the user edits, the contents of \fItext\fP will change,
subject to the limitation of \fIsize\fP total characters. The text
can also be selected for use in other windows.
.PP
Sx_EntryMake is similar to Sx_EntryCreate except that it doesn't
create a new window; the caller provides the window to use for
the entry. If the window is already an entry window, then
Sx_EntryMake just changes its internal parameters and redisplays
the entry (this is useful, for example, if the caller wishes to
change the label or text for the entry). If the window isn't already
an entry window, then Sx_EntryMake doesn't redisplay it; it assumes
that the caller will map the window later, at which point it
will be redisplayed.
.PP
If \fIfontPtr\fP is non-NULL, the caller must make sure that the
information it refers to does not change as long as the entry
exists. On the other hand, \fIlabel\fP may be modified as soon
as Sx_EntryCreate or Sx_EntryMake returns, since a copy of it is saved
internally for the entry.
.PP
Entry subwindows may be deleted at any time by calling XDestroyWindow.
The Sx package will automatically clean up internal data associated
with the entry.
.PP
The implementation of entries depends on the use of the Sx
dispatcher (Sx_HandlerCreate, Sx_HandleEvent, etc.), and will
not work if those routines are not used correctly.
