TransFig is a set of tools for creating TeX documents with graphics
which are portable, in the sense that they can be printed in a wide
variety of environments.

The following subdirectories contain translators from one graphics
desciption language to another:

	pic2fig: PIC -> Fig code

	fig2tex: Fig -> PiCTeX macros
	fig2ps : Fig -> PostScript

The fig2* translators are used to convert Fig code to various forms
usable in TeX documents. The pic2fig converter is included as a means
of generating translatable Fig code from a more reasonable syntax.
Fig code is also generated by the Fig graphics editor.

The doc directory contains a manual for using TransFig to create
documents with portable graphics.
