           THE CALCULATOR
The calculator is used in the same way 
as a hand held calculator.

The Num Lock status is set to on which 
allows you use of the numeric key pad. 

Use the Scroll Lock key followed by 
the Arrow keys to move the calculator 
around the screen.

The function keys are as follows:

MC    Clear memory
MR    Recall memory
M-    Subtract from memory
M+    Add to memory
CE    Clear entry
AC    Clear all

       STORING VALUES ON KEYS
You can store the results of 
calculations performed on the 
calculator on any key. This is useful 
if you want to use a calcluated value 
in the Spreadsheet for example.

To program a key press the letter P 
and you will see the Program indicator 
key displayed. The next key you press 
will store the value displayed on the 
calculator.

You can recall a value stored in a key 
at any time by just pressing the key.

You can exit from the calculator by 
pressing the Esc key.

          DIARY AND CALENDAR
The diary key brings the calendar on 
the screen which allows you to select 
the diary day you require.  The 
calendar will show todays date and you 
can move today's pointer by using the 
Arrow keys or the Pg Up and Pg Dn 
keys.

Having selected the day for the diary 
press Return.

You can exit from the diary by 
pressing the Esc key and Esc again 
removes the calendar from the screen.

             DIARY TEXT
The selected day will now appear on 
the screen.

You can type in up to 26 lines of 
details for any day.  Each day is 
divided into two diary pages, one for 
the morning and one for the afternoon. 

Use the Up and Down Arrow keys to move 
to the time slot then type in the 
details and press Return.  Use the 
Backspace key if you make a mistake 
when typing new entries.

The diary also has a note line which 
can contain special information for 
the day of up to 36 characters.

To move to the first page press the 
Home key and to move the first entry 
on the second page press the End key.  

You can move forwards or backwards a 
day by using the Pg Dn or Pg Up keys.  
To move forward a month it is easier 
to use the Esc key to display the 
calendar and use the Pg Up key to move 
forward on the calendar.

         DUPLICATING ENTRIES
Type in the entry and press Return 
then use the Dup key for the number of 
time periods required for that entry.  
The diary will show these duplicated 
entries by a series of asterisks '*'.
Use this facility for meetings or 
events that span more than one time 
slot.

         HIGHLIGHTING ENTRIES
You can highlight special events which 
will appear on your desktop as 
reminders for the day they are 
entered.

Use the Highlight key at the beginning 
of the line before typing.  Existing 
entries can be highlighted when the 
cursor is positioned at the beginning 
of the line.  Press the Highlight key 
a second time to make the entry into 
an ordinary diary item.

          REPEATING ENTRIES
There is a repeat facility to 
duplicate entries that happen weekly, 
fortnightly or monthly.  Press the Cmd 
key and select the Repeat option by 
using the Arrow key and pressing 
Return, or by pressing R.

You will be asked to choose one of the 
following:

W   for weekly
F   for fortnightly
M   for monthly

You will then be asked for the number 
of times to be repeated:

Weekly      Range 1 through 52
Fornightly  Range 1 through 26
Monthly     Range 1 through 12

After pressing Return the system 
automatically creates these entries on 
the correct days but will not 
overwrite any existing entries.

               PRINTING
Press the Cmd key to select the Print 
option.  You can print the entire 
diary or a range of dates.  For a 
range you must enter a start date and 
an end date.

         CHOOSING A NEW DIARY
You can save and retrieve diaries on 
disk.  To select a new diary to work 
on, press the Cmd key and select the 
Name option by pressing N or using the 
Arrow keys and Return.

You will be asked for the diary name.  
Use up to 8 alpha numeric characters.  
If the name does not exist a new one 
is created.

            DELETE A DIARY
You can delete an entire diary or a 
range of dates.  It is useful to 
delete past dates periodically because 
this keeps the size of the diary to a 
minimum which helps processing speed.

If you select a range, you can delete 
days in the diary or if you select All 
you can delete the entire diary.

             THE NOTEPAD
The notepad is a full-screen text 
editor which provides most of the 
facilities of a word processing 
system.

You can exit from the notepad by 
pressing the Esc key.

    SELECTING AND SAVING NOTEPADS
The File key can be used to save 
notepads or to select another notepad 
to work on.  Select the File key and 
enter the notepad file name of up to 8 
alpha numeric characters, if the file 
does not exist a new file will be 
created.

     CHANGING THE NOTEPAD SIZE
The size of the notepad can be changed 
by using the Expand and Contract keys. 
After pressing the Expand or Contract 
key the Arrow keys move the borders of 
the notepad window.  Press the Expand 
or Contract keys again to return the 
Arrow keys to their normal use.

                TABS
Tab positions are automatically set at 
the beginning of each word on the 
previous line.  Use the Tab key to 
move the cursor to each tab position.

           IMPORTING DATA
You can import data from the screen 
into the notepad.  For example from 
the diary.

First press the Import key and the 
notepad is removed from the screen.

Then use the Arrow keys to position 
the cursor where you want to mark the 
beginning of the block to be imported 
and press Ctrl K B. Now use the Arrow 
keys to position the cursor at the end 
of the block and press Ctrl K K.

The notepad will now re-appear and 
position the cursor where the imported 
data is required and press Ctrl K C.

         SEARCH AND REPLACE
When you search and replace, you will 
be asked for the find and/or replace 
string and then asked for the options. 
These are one or a combination of the 
following:

B     Search and replace backwards
      from the cursor position. 

G     Global search and replace,
      regardless of the cursor
      position.

n     n = any number.  Search and
      replace the nth occurence of the
      string from the cursor position.

N     Replaces without giving the
      prompt at each occurence to
      replace Y/N.

U     Ignore upper or lower case.

W     Whole words only.

                     SPECIAL KEYS
Many of the commands use the Ctrl key together with one or 
two letters.

The key assignments that follow are the default settings 
but these can be changed by using the QT configure program 
to assign new values to the commands.
