The superuser (root) has unlimited powers - he can read, write, and
delete any files regardless of permissions. So unless this is your
personal home computer it's not a good idea to let just anybody to
log in as root.
We'll run the 'passwd' program. It will ask you to type the password
2 times (4 times if it's too short). Type it in and terminate with a
<return>. The characters will not be echoed on the screen. Write the
word on a piece of paper before you forget it.
