POWER ON/OFF - a mains power switch is located
(not shown) at the rear of the printer. It
can be switched ON, and left in
the ON position, first time the
printer is operated. The printer
will then be switched on/off as
the system is switched on/off.
1) LINE ON/OFF - in the ON position the printer
switch can receive data for printing.
The switch always has to be in
the OFF position when the opera-
tor loads paper, replaces colour
ribbon, and so on. While in the
OFF position the indicator lamp
will ligth (EOP indicator).
\f
2) PAPER LF/TOF - when pressed to the LF position
switch and rapidly returned to its
normal position, this control
(LF = L_ine F_eed) feeds the paper one line.
(TOF = T_op O_f F_orm)
When pressed to the LF position
and held pressed, this control
continously feeds the paper until
the switch is returned to normal
position.
When pressed to the TOF position,
this control causes the paper to
advance to the next top-of-form
position. Press once for each
form to be feed.
The PAPER LF/TOF switch only
functions when the LINE control
is switched to the OFF position.
3) EOP - when the paper is running low,
indicator/alarm the EOP indicator is lit (the
indicator is also lit when
(EOP = E_nd o_f P_aper) switching the LINE control to the
OFF position). Upon printing the
last form, further an intermit-
tent acoustic alarm is heard and
printing is blocked.
The acoustic signal is cancelled
by switching the LINE control to
the OFF position. The EOP indica-
tor will be lit until paper has
been replenished and a PAPER TOF
control has been performed.
\f
Alarm - the acoustic alarm is also ap-
plied either when receiving a
BELL code, or when a printer
failure occurs.
The duration of a BELL alarm is
about 1 second; it is mostly used
to signal a message received at
the printer.
Other alarms cannot be cancelled
rightaway, except when switching
off power (see discussion later
on).

Before operating the printer, use the following main check
points:
- self-test to be enabled, or not
- colour ribbon condition
- correct VFU tape loaded
- sufficient amount of paper loaded
- paper adjustments
The procedings involved in maintaining these conditions are
discussed below.
3_._1_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _P_o_w_e_r_ _O_n_ 3.1
The printer should never be switched on without having a VFU
tape, a colour ribbon, and a paper form installed. Especially,
take care that the printer is never allowed to print on the
platen when stripped of paper.
If power is switched on and the LINE control is in the OFF posi-
tion, the printer will automatically perform a self-test proce-
dure, whereby all printing functions are checked. If the self-test
is not wanted, the LINE control should be in the ON position
before switching on power. The LINE control can then immediately
be switched to the OFF position, if the printer is not yet ready
to receive data for printing.
When power is applied and whenever the LINE control is switched
from OFF to ON the print head moves to the left-hand margin
position.
In order to enable printing the LINE control is set in the ON
position; to disable printing the control is set to the OFF
position.
\f
3_._2_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _L_o_a_d_i_n_g_ _t_h_e_ _V_F_U_ _T_a_p_e_ 3.2
The tape is prepared according to 4.2.
The LINE control must be in the OFF position. The printer cover
is opened and the flap of the VFU tape reader is pushed into the
up-position. The tape is inserted so that the sprocket holes
(smallest holes) are engaged with
the sprocket wheel and so that
the punched holes are positioned
towards the printer.
The flap is then lowered. A check
is made to ensure correct load-
ing.
Whenever a VFU tape has been loaded, it will be necessary to
adjust the paper transport in accordance with 3.4.2.
3_._3_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _L_o_a_d_i_n_g_ _t_h_e_ _P_a_p_e_r_ _F_o_r_m_ 3.3
The LINE control must be in the OFF position.
The printer cover is
opened. The print module
is released and tilted to
the service position. The
paper transport unit is
tilted to a position of
45 backwards-sloping.
\f
The paper is entered from the
rear and pushed into the printer.
From below the platen it can be
pulled through in order to be
loaded on the tractors. The
printing side has to face down-
wards when entering the paper.
Printing side
Paper is loaded on
the tractors by
opening the holding
flaps, inserting
the paper on the
sprocket belt and
lowering the flaps. It
Print lines horizon- may be necessary coarsly
tally when paper is to adjust the tractors

the paper forms width.
The paper transport unit is til-
ted towards the printer front and
paper is loaded to the tractors
on the bottom side.
No slope allowed. \f
The paper transport unit is
restored to its working
position; at the same time
the entering paper is
pulled backwards to avoid
crumpling under the unit.
The left-hand tractor is
then positioned in conjunc-
tion with the left-hand
margin setting and locked.
The rigth-hand tractor is
sligthly pulled to the
rigth when locking in order
to strech the paper form.
The out-going paper is folded by gravity force and the stacking
of the printed forms must be allowed in the centre of the
out-going paper path.
Whenever paper has been loaded, it is necessary to adjust for
correct vertical print positioning; it may also be necessary to
adjust margin settings. If the margin settings do not have to be
adjusted, the print module can be restored to its work position.
Adjustments are performed according to 3.4.
3_._4_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _P_r_i_n_t_e_r_ _A_d_j_u_s_t_m_e_n_t_s_ 3.4
Whenever a VFU tape, or a paper form, has been loaded, it will be
necessary to adjust for correct vertical print positioning.
Having loaded a new paper form, it may also be necessary to
adjust the margin settings (horizontal print positioning).
Other adjustments are not necessary; adjustment according to
paper thickness is performed automatically.
The adjustments are performed with the printer cover opened and
the LINE control in the OFF position. \f
3_._4_._1_ _ _ _ _ _M_a_r_g_i_n_ _S_e_t_t_i_n_g_s_
With the print
module in the
service posi-
tion, slide the
left-hand margin
indicator up to
the left-hand
stop. The rigth-
hand indicator
should be posi-
tioned in order
that printing is
n_e_v_e_r_ allowed
outside the
paper form.
Note: The print head cannot print beyond the rigth margin. If the
line length does not correspond to the margin setting the
excessive characters will be printed on the next line.
Thereby introducing an extra line feed that will disturb
the programmed vertical format control.
The print module is lowered to
its working position. The print
head is moved to the left margin
position by rapidly switching the
LINE control from OFF to ON, and
back to OFF.
Both tractors are unlocked and the paper is adjusted sidewards so
that the utmost left-hand print position coincides with the index
mark on top of the print head. The tractors are locked in that
position; the right-hand tractor should be sligthly pulled to the
rigth when locking.
\f
If another initial print position is desired, the left-hand mar-
gin indicator is slid to that position, using the graduaded scale
as reference (the print module is released and tilted to the ser-
vice position to do so). This procedure also applies when correc-
ting a misadjustment of one character position as it will be much
easier to adjust the margin indicator one character position to
the right or left than it would be to position the paper tractors
likewise.
3_._4_._2_ _ _ _ _ _V_e_r_t_i_c_a_l_ _P_r_i_n_t_ _P_o_s_i_t_i_o_n_i_n_g_ 3.4.2
The vertical print positioning is a matter of synchronizing the
VFU tape and the paper form.
The tear-off line between two formats is positioned just under
the white index mark at the right-hand side of the print head. To
feed the paper, use the PAPER LF control. The adjustment knob is
then pulled out and by
turning the knob the
tear-off line is alig-
ned against the index
mark. Keeping the ad-
justment knob in the
pulled-out position,
actuate the PAPER TOF
control. The knob is
then returned to its
normal position (see
below for illustration
of knob).
\f
Note: After this procedure has been accomplished, the adjustment
knob must not be readjusted - doing so, the synchronizing
of VFU and paper form will be spoiled.
If, however, another line than line 1 is to be the first printing
line, then pull out the adjustment knob again and adjust the
tear-off line against the reference mark on the left-hand trac-
tor. Then the first printing line (top of form) will be line 15.
Any other line between 1 and 15 can be chosen as the first prin-
ting line by stepping the PAPER LF control while keeping the ad-
justment knob in the pulled-out position. Each stepping by the
PAPER LF control will reduce the line number by 1. For instance,
10 steppings give line 5 (15-10) as the first printed line.
Note: This proceeding will not
change the programming of the VFU
tape; it only allows for the over-
all form of the printouts to be
moved relative to the paper form.
3_._5_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _A_l_a_r_m_s_ 3.5
The printer sounds an acoustic alarm in case of printer failures.
A number of printer monitoring functions can cause the alarm
(besides the end-of-paper status and the bell code status as
pointed at earlier).
An alarm may as well be caused by outside interference. Such an
alarm, however, can be cancelled by switching the LINE control
OFF and ON, or by switching the mains power supply off and on.
If the alarm still remains, one should switch off power and check
that all operating procedures (concerning VFU tape, colour rib-
bon, paper form, etc.) have been properly executed. Also wrong
programming of the punched VFU tape could cause the alarm. If no
remedies are found, call a service technician.

When installing the printer, use the following check points:
. solid disk, minimum
height 60 cm
. felt pad under printer
. paper path free of
obstacles
. ample space behind the
printer
. correct mounting of
paper spreader (grille
- casing pivots) and
paper deflector (yoke -
cooling air slit).
Note: Also the paper
deflector must be out
off the edge of the
table.
. mains voltage selector
. mains power cord
. data cable \f
Also check release of transport locking arms and other transport
safety arrangements.
Inside the printer cover at both
sides of the print module a
transport lock is found.
They are unlocked by pressing
towards the printer front, til-
ting the printer module and al-
lowing the locking arms to turn
towards the printer rear.
Whenever the printer is trans-
ported, the locking arms should
be re-engaged.

The VFU tape is a standard 8 channel mylar (or n_o_n_t_r_a_n_s_p_a_r_e_n_t_
plastic) tape, containing 10 division lines per inch for hole
punching. The tape must have sprocket feed holes in the full tape
length.

A hole is punched in channel 6 corresponding to the first line to
be printed on the paper form.
E_n_d_ _o_f_ _F_o_r_m_ _(_E_O_F_)_
A hole is punched in channel 7 corresponding to the last line to
be printed on the form. The EOF punching always m_u_s_t_ be present.
The programmed tape length after splicing must be in the range
75-160 holes (channel 4). Otherwise the short program is repeated
a number of times in order to obtain the required length.
Tape spacing accuracy requirements in channel 4 (LFH-channel) are:
3% - 1 spacing; 1% - 10 spacings; 0.5% - 50 spacings.

\f
4_._2_._2_ _ _ _ _ _S_p_l_i_c_i_n_g_ 4.2.2
The tape should be punched to contain an extra TOF hole. When
splicing, the tape is folded so that the two outer TOF holes
coincide and the two free tape ends are cut at the same time.
A special splicing tape is used. Both ends of the VFU tape must
be closely joined without overlap, when splicing. (Splicing can
be supported by turning the minipunch over and using the guide
pins as fixture). The splicing tape is applied on both sides of
the VFU tape. The splicing
tape must not overlay
punched holes. If this is
so, the holes overlaid are
re-punched.

Before operating the printer, use the following main check
points:
- self-test to be enabled, or not
- colour ribbon condition
- correct VFU tape loaded
- sufficient amount of paper loaded
- paper adjustments
The procedings involved in maintaining these conditions are
discussed below.
3_._1_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _P_o_w_e_r_ _O_n_ 3.1
The printer should never be switched on without having a VFU
tape, a colour ribbon, and a paper form installed. Especially,
take care that the printer is never allowed to print on the
platen when stripped of paper.
If power is switched on and the LINE control is in the OFF posi-
tion, the printer will automatically perform a self-test proce-
dure, whereby all printing functions are checked. If the self-test
is not wanted, the LINE control should be in the ON position
before switching on power. The LINE control can then immediately
be switched to the OFF position, if the printer is not yet ready
to receive data for printing.
When power is applied and whenever the LINE control is switched
from OFF to ON the print head moves to the left-hand margin
position.
In order to enable printing the LINE control is set in the ON
position; to disable printing the control is set to the OFF
position.
\f
3_._2_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _L_o_a_d_i_n_g_ _t_h_e_ _V_F_U_ _T_a_p_e_ 3.2
The tape is prepared according to 4.2.
The LINE control must be in the OFF position. The printer cover
is opened and the flap of the VFU tape reader is pushed into the
up-position. The tape is inserted so that the sprocket holes
(smallest holes) are engaged with
the sprocket wheel and so that
the punched holes are positioned
towards the printer.
The flap is then lowered. A check
is made to ensure correct load-
ing.
Whenever a VFU tape has been loaded, it will be necessary to
adjust the paper transport in accordance with 3.4.2.
3_._3_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _L_o_a_d_i_n_g_ _t_h_e_ _P_a_p_e_r_ _F_o_r_m_ 3.3
The LINE control must be in the OFF position.
The printer cover is
opened. The print module
is released and tilted to
the service position. The
paper transport unit is
tilted to a position of
45 backwards-sloping.
\f
The paper is entered from the
rear and pushed into the printer.
From below the platen it can be
pulled through in order to be
loaded on the tractors. The
printing side has to face down-
wards when entering the paper.

the paper forms width.
The paper transport unit is til-
ted towards the printer front and
paper is loaded to the tractors
on the bottom side.
No slope allowed.
\f
The paper transport unit is
restored to its working
position; at the same time
the entering paper is
pulled backwards to avoid
crumpling under the unit.
The left-hand tractor is
then positioned in conjunc-
tion with the left-hand
margin setting and locked.
The rigth-hand tractor is
sligthly pulled to the
rigth when locking in order
to strech the paper form.
The out-going paper is folded by gravity force and the stacking
of the printed forms must be allowed in the centre of the
out-going paper path.
Whenever paper has been loaded, it is necessary to adjust for
correct vertical print positioning; it may also be necessary to
adjust margin settings. If the margin settings do not have to be
adjusted, the print module can be restored to its work position.
Adjustments are performed according to 3.4.
3_._4_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _P_r_i_n_t_e_r_ _A_d_j_u_s_t_m_e_n_t_s_ 3.4
Whenever a VFU tape, or a paper form, has been loaded, it will be
necessary to adjust for correct vertical print positioning.
Having loaded a new paper form, it may also be necessary to
adjust the margin settings (horizontal print positioning).
Other adjustments are not necessary; adjustment according to
paper thickness is performed automatically.
The adjustments are performed with the printer cover opened and
the LINE control in the OFF position. \f
3_._4_._1_ _ _ _ _ _M_a_r_g_i_n_ _S_e_t_t_i_n_g_s_
With the print
module in the
service posi-
tion, slide the
left-hand margin
indicator up to
the left-hand
stop. The rigth-
hand indicator
should be posi-
tioned in order
that printing is
n_e_v_e_r_ allowed
outside the
paper form.
Note: The print head cannot print beyond the rigth margin. If the
line length does not correspond to the margin setting the
excessive characters will be printed on the next line.
Thereby introducing an extra line feed that will disturb
the programmed vertical format control.
The print module is lowered to
its working position. The print
head is moved to the left margin
position by rapidly switching the
LINE control from OFF to ON, and
back to OFF.
Both tractors are unlocked and the paper is adjusted sidewards so
that the utmost left-hand print position coincides with the index
mark on top of the print head. The tractors are locked in that
position; the right-hand tractor should be sligthly pulled to the
rigth when locking.
\f
If another initial print position is desired, the left-hand mar-
gin indicator is slid to that position, using the graduaded scale
as reference (the print module is released and tilted to the ser-
vice position to do so). This procedure also applies when correc-
ting a misadjustment of one character position as it will be much
easier to adjust the margin indicator one character position to
the right or left than it would be to position the paper tractors
likewise.
3_._4_._2_ _ _ _ _ _V_e_r_t_i_c_a_l_ _P_r_i_n_t_ _P_o_s_i_t_i_o_n_i_n_g_ 3.4.2
The vertical print positioning is a matter of synchronizing the
VFU tape and the paper form.
The tear-off line between two formats is positioned just under
the white index mark at the right-hand side of the print head. To
feed the paper, use the PAPER LF control. The adjustment knob is
then pulled out and by
turning the knob the
tear-off line is alig-
ned against the index
mark. Keeping the ad-
justment knob in the
pulled-out position,
actuate the PAPER TOF
control. The knob is
then returned to its
normal position (see
below for illustration
of knob).
\f
Note: After this procedure has been accomplished, the adjustment
knob must not be readjusted - doing so, the synchronizing
of VFU and paper form will be spoiled.
If, however, another line than line 1 is to be the first printing
line, then pull out the adjustment knob again and adjust the
tear-off line against the reference mark on the left-hand trac-
tor. Then the first printing line (top of form) will be line 15.
Any other line between 1 and 15 can be chosen as the first prin-
ting line by stepping the PAPER LF control while keeping the ad-
justment knob in the pulled-out position. Each stepping by the
PAPER LF control will reduce the line number by 1. For instance,
10 steppings give line 5 (15-10) as the first printed line.
Note: This proceeding will not
change the programming of the VFU
tape; it only allows for the over-
all form of the printouts to be
moved relative to the paper form.
3_._5_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _A_l_a_r_m_s_ 3.5
The printer sounds an acoustic alarm in case of printer failures.
A number of printer monitoring functions can cause the alarm
(besides the end-of-paper status and the bell code status as
pointed at earlier).
An alarm may as well be caused by outside interference. Such an
alarm, however, can be cancelled by switching the LINE control
OFF and ON, or by switching the mains power supply off and on.
If the alarm still remains, one should switch off power and check
that all operating procedures (concerning VFU tape, colour rib-
bon, paper form, etc.) have been properly executed. Also wrong
programming of the punched VFU tape could cause the alarm. If no
remedies are found, call a service technician.

When installing the printer, use the following check points:
. solid disk, minimum
height 60 cm
. felt pad under printer
. paper path free of
obstacles
. ample space behind the
printer
. correct mounting of
paper spreader (grille

Note: Also the paper
deflector must be out
off the edge of the
table.
. mains voltage selector
. mains power cord
. data cable \f
Also check release of transport locking arms and other transport
safety arrangements.
Inside the printer cover at both
sides of the print module a
transport lock is found.
They are unlocked by pressing
towards the printer front, til-
ting the printer module and al-
lowing the locking arms to turn
towards the printer rear.
Whenever the printer is trans-
ported, the locking arms should
be re-engaged.

If this is
so, the holes overlaid are
re-punched.

POWER ON/OFF - hovedafbryderen findes på prin-
(ikke vist) terens bagside. Den kan forblive
tændt efter første betjening.
Printeren vil så automatisk blive
tændt/slukket, når systemet
tændes/slukkes.
1) LINE ON/OFF - med kontakten i ON stilling kan
kontakt printeren modtage data til
udskrivning.
Kontakten skal altid være i OFF
stilling, når operatøren sætter
papir i, skifter farvebånd eller
lign.
Når kontakten er i OFF stilling,
lyser indikatoren (EOP indika-
toren).
\f
2) PAPER LF/TOF - når kontakten trykkes i LF stil-
kontakt ling og hurtigt slippes igen,
føres papiret en linie frem.
(LF = L_ine F_eed
= ny linie) Når kontakten trykkes i LF
stilling og holdes der, føres

Når kontakten trykkes i TOF
stilling, føres papiret frem til
ny side. Tryk en gang for hver ny
side, papiret skal føres frem.
PAPER LF/TOF kontakten virker
kun, når LINE kontakten er i OFF
stilling.
3) EOP - denne indikator tændes umiddel-
indikator/advarselssignal bart før papiret slipper op (den
kan dog også være tændt, fordi
(EOP = E_nd O_f P_aper LINE kontakten er skiftet fra ON
= papir slut) til OFF). Når sidste side er ud-
skrevet, høres desuden et advar-
selssignal (afbrudt tone), hvor-
efter udskrivningen blokeres.
Alarmtonen kan stoppes ved at
skifte LINE kontakten fra ON til
OFF. EOP indikatoren slukkes
aktivering.
\f
Advarselssignal - tonesignalet anvendes desuden,
når der modtages et BELL kode-
tegn, eller når der opstår funk-
tionsfejl.
Et BELL signal varer ca. 1 sek.
og bruges oftest, når der sendes
en meddelelse til udskrivning på
printeren.
Andre advarselssignaler kan ikke
umiddelbart annulleres, undtagen
når der slukkes med hovedafbryd-

Forud for drift af printeren, benyt følgende kontrolpunkter:
- selvtest ønsket eller ej,
- farvebåndets tilstand,
- korrekt VFU strimmel isat,
- printer instillinger.
stilles i ON stillingen, før start. (LINE kontakten kan så umid-
delbart derefter stilles i OFF stilling, hvis printeren endnu
margenposition.
Udskrivning er mulig, når LINE kontakten stilles i ON stilling;

føringsenhedernes over-
side åbnes, papirets
fremføringshuller føres
til indgreb med bæltet
og holdepladerne lukkes
nedover papiret.
tilladt.
\f
Fremføringsenhederne vippes
tilbage til driftsstilling -
papiret trækkes samtidig bagud,
så det ikke krølles.
Venstre fremføringsenhed stilles
derefter overensstemmende med
venstre margenposition og låses.
Højre fremføringsenheden trækkes
let mod højre, idet den låses,
således at papiret strammes i
\f
3_._4_._1_ _ _ _ _ _I_n_d_s_t_i_l_l_i_n_g_ _a_f_ _m_a_r_g_e_n_s_t_o_p_ 3.4.1
Med skrivemodulet vip-
pet op i servicestil-
ling, kan venstre mar-
genindikator skubbes
helt ud mod venstre
endestop. Højre margen-
indikator stilles så-
ledes, at der a_l_d_r_i_g_
skrives uden for pa-
pirbredden.
styring.
Skrivemodulet vippes tilbage
til arbejdsstilling. Skrive-
hovedet flyttes ud til
ventre marginposition ved
hurtigt at skifte LINE
kontakten fra OFF til ON og
tilbage til OFF.
Begge papirfremføringsenheder frigøres og papiret flyttes i
tværretningen indtil yderste venstre skrivepostion på papiret
falder sammen med indekseringsmærket ovenpå skrivehovedet.
Fremføringsenhederne låses i denne position; den højre enhed
trækkes let mod højre, idet den låses.
\f
Afrivningslinien mellem to formater indstilles lige under indeks-
seringsmærket på højre side af skrivehovedet. Papiret føres frem
ved brug af PAPER LF kontakten. Indstillingshåndhjulet trækkes
herefter ud, og ved at
dreje håndtaget indstil-
les afrivningslinien lige
udfor mærket. Stadig med
håndtaget trukket ud,
aktiveres nu PAPER TOF
kontakten. Håndtaget kan
så slippes.
\f
takten, stadig mens indstillingshåndhjulet holdes i udtrukket
stilling.

(transmissionslinien). Et sådant signal vil kunne annulleres ved
at skifte LINE kontakten fra ON til OFF og tilbage - eller ved at
slukke med hovedafbryderen og tænde igen.
\f

stationen.
2) LOAD - når kontakten trykkes ind
kontakt/indikator og indikatoren tændes,
påbegyndes LOAD sekven-
sen.
Første gang kontakten
aktiveres vil båndet
blive strammet op.
Næste aktivering vil be-
virke, at båndet spoles
frem til BOT mærket og\f
stoppes. (BOT = markering
af båndets begyndelse;
EOT = markering af
båndets slutning).
3) ON LINE - når kontakten trykkes ind

sekvens.
Næste aktivering af kon-
takten vil bevirke, at
båndstationen kobles off-
line. Båndstationen kan
også kobles off-line som
følge af en ordre fra
systemet, eller på grund
af svigtende båndstram-
ning.
4) REWIND - når kontakten trykkes ind
kontakt/indikator og indikatoren tændes,
vil båndet spoles tilbage
med højeste hastighed.
Denne funktion virker
kun, når båndstationen er
koblet off-line.
Når BOT-mærket registre-

påbegynder en LOAD
sekvens.

For at kunne
skubbe spolen over gummikraven under monteringen, trykkes på ud-
2. Det vil være nødvendigt
yderligere at afrulle bånd under isætningen, ligesom beskyttel-
sesanordningen (feltspærringen) over læse-skrive-hovederne skal
åbnes.
\f

drift. Det gøres som følger:
under stopproceduren.
\f
2. Aktivr (tryk, slip) LOAD kontakten. Derved strammes båndet
(capstan og spoledrivmotorer kobles ind og båndsløjfearmene
svinger op).
Bemærk: Kontrollr at båndet er isat korrekt i alle båndfø-
ringer - båndet kan ellers beskadiges.
3. Aktivr LOAD kontakten en gang til. Dermed startes fremspo-
båndet kontrolleres for korrekt styring i båndføringerne,
kontakten.
5. Tryk på ON LINE kontakten. Når indikatoren lyser, er bånd-
stationen klar til drift.

2) Aktivr (tryk, slip) REWIND kontakten.

POWER ON/OFF - power is supplied automa-
(not shown) tically to the drive
through the system power
supply.
At the rear panel of the
drive there is a mains
power switch, which can
be used in those cases
where the drive has to be
isolated from the general
system power supply.
1) Door - the door is opened by
pressing the push bar
inwards. It is closed by
pressing downwards on the
front edge.
2) Push Bar - when pressed inwards this
opens the door. \f
3) Activity indicator - this ligth emitting diode
(LED) mounted in the push
bar on the front is illu-
minated whenever the
read-write head is loa-
ded.
Note: The ligth emitting
diode may be mounted away
from the push bar to the
left on the front on some
models.

Press the push bar inwards to open the door.
Remove the diskette from the storage envelope. Make sure that the
correct diskette side is facing upwards before loading. Usually
the side with the label has to face upwards. However, in case a
double-single-sided diskette is used either of the sides may have
to be facing upwards, depending on the logical storage area which
is to be used (cf. 3.4).
The diskette is carefully slid into the drive until solidly sea-
ted. The diskette will then be kept properly in place in order
that the door can be closed by pressing downwards on the front
edge of the door.

The diskette should only be unloaded when the activity indicator
is extinguished. To remove the diskette the push bar is pressed
inwards whereby the door is opened and the diskette is expelled
from the drive.
The diskette should immediately be stored in the storage
envelope.

The diskette consists of a plastic disc which is contained in a
disc cover. Do never attempt to remove the disc cover. Further
the diskette is stored in an envelope. Storage envelopes should
be replaced when they become worn in order that they provide
maximum protection of the diskettes.
Figure 3: Diskette and Storage Envelope
Keep diskettes away from magnetic fields and from ferromagnetic
materials which might become magnetized. Strong magnetic fields
can distort recorded data on the disc.
Do not expose diskette to heat or sunlight, - storage temperature
should be kept in the range 10 - 50C (50 - 125F). If the dis-
kettes are stored vertically, support the diskettes in order that
they do not lean or lag.
\f
Do not touch or attempt to clean the disc surface. The
read-write head access the disc through the rectangular hole in
the disc cover.
The diskettes are labelled with the manufactorer>s label to the
left and with a label to the right stating the contents of the
diskette. The latter can either be made by the user or the manu-
factorer.
I_m_p_o_r_t_a_n_t_:
Never write on a diskette label after it has been stuck to the
disc cover, - if doing so the disc surface migth be damaged. As
an exception it can be done when using a felt tip pen.
3_._2_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _W_r_i_t_e_-_P_r_o_t_e_c_t_ _o_f_ _D_i_s_k_e_t_t_e_s_ 3.2
To write-protect a diskette a notch must be punched out.
Figure 4: Position of Write-protect Notch \f
It is automatically detected by the drive, whether a diskette is
write-protected or not.
If a write-protected diskette have to be subjected to a write
operation, this is possible by covering the notch with a piece of
non-transparent tape. (The tape should be held against the disc
cover edge and folded onto both sides of the cover).
When the notch is open the diskette is write-protected; when
covered writing is enabled.
3_._3_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _T_y_p_e_s_ _o_f_ _D_i_s_k_e_t_t_e_s_ 3.3
There are 3 types of diskettes which are generally available for
use with the drive. Which type of diskette that is used, is auto-
matically detected by the drive. The operator only has to make
sure that the correct diskette surface is facing upwards when
loading the diskette.
Note: It is also possible that manufacturers> labels on the dis-
kettes can identify their types but this is not always
obvious.
The types of diskettes are:
1) The single-sided diskette which has 1 recording surface and
is 1 logical disc storage area.
It is identified by a small hole in its cover which
is at a position of approximately 12.15 o>clock
when holding the diskette vertically.
\f
2) The double-sided diskette which has 2 recording surfaces, one
on each side, and is 1 logical disc storage area.
It is identified by a small hole in its cover which
is at a position of approximately 1 o>clock when
holding the diskette vertically.
3) The double-single-sided diskette which has 2 recording sur-
faces, one on each side, and is 2 logical disc storrage recor-
ding surface.
It is identified by 2 small holes in its cover
which are at positions of approximately 11.45 and
12.15 o>clock when holding the diskette vertically.
Note: The double-single-sided diskettes mainly are produced
for equipment using only 1 read-write-head, thus the diskettes
have to be flipped over in order to use both recording surfa-
ces. This affects the way of formatting the diskette and
despite the fact that other equipment uses 2 read-write heads
(like the one at hand) such a pre-formatted double-single-
sided diskette then still has to be flipped over.

No direct operator maintenance is required at the drive; the
operator only has to meet the requirements involved with the
disketette handling.

bagpanel findes en hoved-
afbryder, der kan bruges
i de tilfælde, hvor sta-
tionen ønskes frakoblet

2) udløser - tryk ind og døren åbnes. \f
3) driftsindikator - denne lysindikator er
indbygget i udløseren og
lyser, når læse-skrive-
hovedet er aktiveret,
dvs. når diskettesta-
tionen arbejder.
NB: indikatoren er på
nogle modeller placeret
til venstre på frontpa-
nelet og ikke i udløser-
en.

Døren åbnes ved at trykke på udløseren.
Diskettens beskyttelseshylster fjernes. Sørg for, at den rigtige
disketteside vender opad før isætningen. Normalt skal siden med
etiketterne vende opad.

beskyttelseshylster.
Undgå ligeledes at udsætte disketter for direkte sollys, - opbe-
varingstemperaturen skal være 10 - 50C. Opbevares disketterne
"stående", skal de understøttes for at undgå eventuelle skævheder
i disketten, der ellers måtte opstå.
Plastskiven må ikke berøres, ligesom den ikke må udsættes for
forsøg på rensning. Læse-skrive-hovedet har adgang til plastski-
ven gennem det aflange hul i pladehylsteret.
\f
Mærkning af disketter sker med selvklæbende etiketter. Normalt
overflade.
kanten og fold ind over begge sider).
mulig.
3_._3_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _D_i_s_k_e_t_t_e_t_y_p_e_r_ 3.3
Der skelnes mellem 3 diskettetyper. De kan alle bruges, idet dis-
kettestationen automatisk registrerer, hvilken type diskette, der
er isat. Blot skal operatøren selv huske, at disketten vendes
1) enkelt-sidet,
disketten har 1 lagerflade og udgør 1 logisk lagerområde.
I_d_e_n_t_i_f_i_k_a_t_i_o_n_: holdes disketten lodret med eti-
ketterne opad, ses i pladehylsteret under etiket-
terne et hul cirka i positionen "klokken 12.15".
\f
2) dobbelt-sidet,
ketterne opad, ses i pladehylsteret under etiket-
terne et hul cirka i positionen "klokken 13.00".
3) to-enkelt-sidet,
etiketterne opad, ses i pladehylsteret under
etiketterne to huller cirka i positionerne
