Module id number: CSS/321
-------------------------
Module name: FLOPPY DISK DRIVER
------------------------------------
Module id number: CSS/322
-------------------------
Module name: CDC DISK DRIVER
---------------------------------
Actual release: 05.04 Release date: 850313
----------------------- --------------------
Previous release: 05.03 Release date: 841005
----------------------- --------------------
New facilities:
---------------
>> V0504 <<
- (X)AMOS drivers can now run on MX type 2 HW provided that
the (X)AMOS rules for storage is followed (FMS disk cache
and driver inside the controller RAM).
>> V0503 <<
- The MX-CDC driver can now handle parity errors and will perform
retry of operations if they do not occur too often.
- (X)AMOS drivers checks, that the calling FMS lies in the same
section as themselves.
>> V0502 <<
- It is possible to get statistics collection. This is an assembly
time option.
- A new command - CLEARVOL - has been introduced to allow FMS to clear
volume statistics (if gathered) when new volumes are mounted.
- A new command bit has been introduced (in MX-AMOS versions of
CDC drivers) to allow the BACKUP program to avoid copying
of sector buffers to-from the PU sector cache if the source
and the destination disks are both on the same controller.
>> V0501 <<
- A new command, disk_shutdown has been implemented, which
closes the driver.
- Available in MX-AMOS versions.
Changes:
--------
>> V0504 <<
- None.
>> V0503 <<
- The drivers no longer uses saveevent and recoverevents.
This is not necessary since all commands are executed in a finite
amount of time and the list of free incoming requests is examined
for being empty before awaiting a new command from outside.
This gives a small performance improvement (especially in
multi-CPU environments).
>> V0502 <<
- Error recovery strategy for writes is changed to only abort
when bad sectors are detected.
- CDC driver, MX-AMOS version, has been performance improved
by making sector copying overlapped with new requests.
>> V0501 <<
- New improved strategy for recovery. Writing on disks and
checkreading are NOT tried recovered.
>> V0402 <<
- Collecting of unit flags, when 'was seeking' bit
is set in status, is changed to prevent deadlock.
(CDC only).
>> V0401 <<
- Improved recovery for CDC cartridge disk drives
(ref cpecr 312)
Errors corrected:
-----------------
>> V0504 <<
- Controller errors (HW timeouts etc) can now be tolerated in
any situations.
- (X)AMOS drivers refused all inclusions (assigns). This is
corrected.
>> V0503 <<
- The handling of controller errors in MX versions corrected.
>> V0502 <<
- None.
>> V0501 <<
- The driver performs time-out of seek operations.
- The driver refuses to recover operations on drives,
that are not ready.
Reported errors, not corrected:
