--------------------------
Module name: MAG-TAPE BACKUP
-----------------------------------
Actual release: 04.02 Release date: 860527
----------------------- --------------------
Previous release: 04.01 Release date: 860408
----------------------- --------------------
New facilities:
---------------
>> V0402 <<
None.
>> V0401 <<
- Two new parameters added: R and D specifying the tape controller
RAM address and device address. These parameters overrun the
contents of the MT_CONFIG.T file.
- The program now exists in two versions: the usual version that
requires support from TOS, and a new version supplied as a
boot module, that reads its parameters interactively from
the main console.
>> V0301 <<
- The program is capable of restarting a backUP at a
specified tapenumber.
- The program can use 2 tapestations alternating.
- The new, extended alternative sector file is supported.
>> V0202 <<
- The configuration parameters are fetched from a disk file.
This solution is more flexible and makes it possible to
support all kinds of MX-AMOS installations.
The name of the disk file is
MT_CONFIG.T
and it must reside in the same directory as MT_BACKUP
This file must be edited to contain two lines :
D:<device addr> <NL>
R:<RAM addr> <NL>
where <device addr> is an integer with three compartments
bit 12-15 : crate no (AMOS & XAMOS : 0)
bit 6-11 : 0
bit 0- 5 : device address (AMOS & XAMOS : #1F)
and <RAM addr> is an integer stating the start address of the
magtape controller RAM in units of one K relative to start of
crate (AMOS & XAMOS : 240(page3 version) or 172(page2 version))
A file with (X)AMOS defaults is deliverable.
Changes:
--------
>> V0402 <<
- The buffer for alternative sector file is now only allocated
at backDOWN and only as large as required by the volume
stored on the tape.
- DAMOS version now deleted completely.
>> V0401 <<
- The tape controller RAM now contains the main buffers.
- The buffer for alternative sectors is now externally allocated.
>> V0301 <<
- The program will start using a tape automatically if it is
ready for use. If not, it will wait for an answer from the
operator stating that the tape is ready.
>> V0202 <<
- Copy to/from MT controller RAM is done via the transfer monitor
procedures introduced to ease upgrading of programs to MX-AMOS.
Performance is slightly reduced when running AMOS but improved
for XAMOS.
This means that one and the same version may run under all three
AMOS based systems.
Errors corrected:
-----------------
>> V0402 <<
- Sectors are now only tried substituted when relevant
completion codes are received from the disk I/O
operations.
- ':'s and '.'s are now allowed as separators when reading
the time to be set in the bootversion.
- Linked with version 0204 of MTC module.
>> V0401 <<
- This and all earlier versions requires ECO #2136 done on the
CR8045M Dual bus tape ctrl.
>> V0302 <<
- The program is linked with MTC version 2.3 with better handling
of interrupts.
Reported errors, not corrected:

Comments:
---------
!!!!!! W A R N I N G !!!!!!
The operator must be very careful to inspect, that no other
tapes are mounted on the tapestation(s) than the ones, that
shall be used for the backup, as the program now may start an
automatic copy onto them.
