1 The Progress report presented covered the period 20th
June to 1st October.
2 The presentation is structured
- overview
- systems engineering
- software development
- hardware development
- logistic support
3 General comments on the presentation are: -
3.1 F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲S̲ ̲O̲F̲ ̲I̲N̲F̲O̲R̲M̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲ ̲T̲O̲ ̲B̲E̲ ̲P̲R̲E̲S̲E̲N̲T̲E̲D̲ ̲I̲N̲ ̲F̲U̲T̲U̲R̲E̲ ̲M̲E̲E̲T̲I̲N̲G̲S̲
a) SHAPE will be provided with a progress report on
the CDRL items and the scheduled milestones. This
should be in a form which makes transmission by
telex possible should there be no progress meeting
per se.
All milestones and CDRL items should be covered
using the format given in Appendix A.
For the purposes of this report:
PLANNED - means the date given in the Baseline
Plan.
LATEST - means the date at which the related
event is now expected to be completed.
ACTUAL - is a record of when the related event
actually occurred.
IMPACT - should give schedule impact on related
items and a summary of suggested solutions
to the problem.
The progress report should be presented in a similar
form each month so that progress may be evaluated.
b) SHAPE will be provided with an action point list,
which is continuously updated and presented in
a similar form at each progress meeting so that
a comparison may be made and progress evaluated.
3.2 M̲A̲J̲O̲R̲ ̲S̲C̲H̲E̲D̲U̲L̲E̲ ̲I̲T̲E̲M̲ ̲D̲E̲L̲A̲Y̲S̲
a) The short term scheduled CDRL items are provided
on 10.10.80. are included as APPENDIX B.
b) The SRS is six weeks delayed according to the Master
Schedule. CR will propose a recovery plan in the
first week of November. This will show how the
six week delay could be recovered downstream in
the schedule.
4 O̲V̲E̲R̲V̲I̲E̲W̲ ̲S̲E̲C̲T̲I̲O̲N̲
4.1 S̲C̲A̲R̲S̲/̲C̲C̲I̲S̲/̲C̲A̲M̲P̲S̲ ̲I̲N̲T̲E̲R̲F̲A̲C̲E̲
CR has received a Functional description (not level
3 as stated in the CR presentation) from SHAPE together
with discrepancy notes on the System Interface Specification
written jointly by CR and Burroughs.
The final approval of these documents is still outstanding.
CR will review the functional description within the
next 5 days and respond with comments to SHAPE. This
action is closeable in about 8 weeks time.
4.2 S̲D̲S̲
The scheduled date for the delivery of the SDS is Jan.
1st 1981 given that the SRS is approved by 10.10.80.
4.3 SHAPE has delivered an input for the documentation
standard for System Design and Subsequent Design documents.
5 S̲Y̲S̲T̲E̲M̲ ̲E̲N̲G̲I̲N̲E̲E̲R̲I̲N̲G̲
5.1 R̲&̲M̲ ̲P̲L̲A̲N̲
As SHAPE is presently defining their failure reporting
system, it was agreed that CR should proceed with the
R/M plan assuming their own failure reporting system.
Specification of the failure reporting system was agreed
to during review of SHAPE's comments to CR's Logistics
Support plan. The wording will be included in issue
2 of the plan under the heading 4.7 Failure Reporting
5.2 E̲M̲I̲ ̲R̲E̲P̲O̲R̲T̲
CR do not wish to release the Atlantic Research (ARC)
Report to SHAPE until they themselves have read and
discussed it.
A joint discussion will be held between ARC, SHAPE
and CR in Copenhagen within the next few weeks. CR
will advise SHAPE within one week.
5.3 I̲N̲T̲E̲R̲F̲A̲C̲E̲ ̲S̲P̲E̲C̲I̲F̲I̲C̲A̲T̲I̲O̲N̲S̲
a) N̲I̲C̲S̲ ̲T̲A̲R̲E̲
CR will provide an Interface Specification based
on the level 1, 2 and ACP 127 information available.
FOR THE RECORD: SHAPE has approached NICSMA
with a view to getting an official description
of the NICS/TARE interface to compare the CR
provided version.
b) O̲C̲R̲
CR will provide SHAPE with the specification for
an OCR interface defining the data formats and
the electrical interface.
5.4 T̲H̲R̲O̲U̲G̲H̲P̲U̲T̲ ̲M̲O̲D̲E̲L̲L̲I̲N̲G̲
The disc configuration is being extensively modelled
to check the adequancy of the throughput.
6 S̲O̲F̲T̲W̲A̲R̲E̲
6.1 The requirements specification for the CAMPS extension
for DAMOS has been written and coordinated.
6.2 Technical Reports have been produced and will be available
for SHAPE inspection. These documents are not contractual
deliverable items.
6.3 The system SW is being developed by CR electronics
division.
6.4 The user interface baseline has now been agreed as
documented in ICD 0001.
7 H̲A̲R̲D̲W̲A̲R̲E̲
7.1 CR are studying the frequency stabilization problem
and are in close contact with the manufacturers of
the disc unit (CDC). During the week to 17th October,
they will talk to a CDC representative to finde out
more about the disc characteristics and evaluate the
effects of a reduction of the specifiedc frequency
stability. They will reply to SHAPE in the first week
of November.
7.2 SHAPE requires the submission of shock and vibration
criteria. It shall be made clear that these criteria
apply to all parts of the CAMPS system.
