Purpose\r
The RTP3502 Compiler is a Real-\r
Time Pascal Cross Compiler (Old\r
dialect) running on an MS-DOS PC\r
platform generating code for the\r
RC5000 Network Switch (RC3502).\r
\r
Reason for Release\r
This release contains updates from\r
the corresponding SW2101 Real-\r
Time Pascal Compiler (RC8000).\r
Furthermore changes in predefined\r
compiler switches are done coordina-\r
ted with the other Real-Time Pascal\r
compilers (SW2101, SW2104, SW-\r
2111, SW2114). In the object code\r
compiler identification is inserted.\r
\r
Requirements\r
SW2103 requires:\r
     MS-DOS 3.3 (SW95400I Release\r
     1.0 or later), or\r

Documentation\r
     PASCAL80 REPORT (PN: 9900-\r
     0484)\r
This is a complete description af the\r
programming language Pascal80.\r
Pascal80 extends the programming\r
language Pascal with concurrent\r
programming tools: processes, mes-\r
sages, and queue semaphores.\r
\r
     PASCAL80 User's Guide (PN:\r
     99104398)\r
This is a tutorial for the language\r
PASCAL80. The manual contains a\r
description of PASCAL80 and exa-\r
mples of programs and program\r
constructs.\r
\r
     PASCAL80 Driver Conventions\r
     (PN: 99103509)\r
This manual contains a standard for\r
the interface between a PASCAL80\r
driver and process(es) using the\r
driver.\r
\r
     RC3502/2 Real-Time Pascal Re-\r
     ference Manual (PN: 99000994)\r
This manual contains a description\r
of the implementation of Real-Time\r
Pascal on the RC3502/2 computer.\r
Information of how to use the Real-\r
Time Pascal compiler and related\r
utility programs is included in appen-\r
dices.\r
\r
Extension to PN: 99000994:\r
SW2103 is the MS-DOS equivalent\r
to the SW2101 RTP which is an\r
RC8000 program. The following\r
concentrates mainly on the differe-\r
ences between theese two compi-\r
lers.\r
Call of RTP3502\r
Call of an RC8000 program is made\r
according to the following syntax:\r
     a = program b.c d e.f\r
In connection with RTP3502/MS-\r
DOS, this call is converted to:\r
     program =a /program b-c d e-f\r
where:\r
- left side is simulated by a string\r
     beginning with an equal-sign. If\r
there are more than one equal-sign\r
in a call, the last sign indicated is\r
     applied\r
- the name of the called program is\r
     simulated by a string beginning\r
with a divisionsign. If there are\r
more than one divisionsign in a\r
call, the last sign indicated is\r
     applied\r
- division of parameters by means\r
of full stop in RC8000, is made in\r
     RTP3502/MSDOS by means of a\r
minus sign. The reason for this is\r
     that files in RTP3502/MSDOS\r
     may contain a full stop.\r
Besides this general change of the\r
RTP call method, RTP3502/MSDOS\r
has been improved by the following\r
facilities:\r
- Call parameters can be stored in\r
files. The text string 'paramin' is\r
     employed in this connection. After\r
     this string and a minus, a file\r
name must be stated, which may\r
contain a path name according to\r
the path syntax of the machine\r
     employed. 'Paramin' may be used\r
in the call line itself, but also in a\r
file. In the call line, any succedent\r
     parameters will be important,\r
     while any succedent parameters in\r
     a file is without importance.\r
Paths may be stated for:\r
- The compiler directory\r
- First and second work directory\r
- Source directory\r
The compiler directory.\r
Method 1:\r
     /program-compiler path\r
Method 2:\r
     set rtppath = compiler path\r
Method 1 outdoes Method 2. Compi-\r
ler directory may be stated for all\r
passes. The directory is used by all\r
relevant passes for helpfiles (e.g.\r
RTP35022 .TAB). When the compi-\r
ler directory is not stated, the direc-\r
tory holding the .EXE files for the\r
passes is used.\r
First and second RTP work directory\r
Method 1:\r
     =leftside-workdir1-workdir2\r
Method 2:\r
     set rtpwork1 = workdir1\r
     set rtpwork2 = workdir2\r
Work directories may be stated for\r
all passes. Pass 1 will generate in-\r
termediate form files in first work\r
directory from which Pass 3 will read\r
and generate its intermediate form\r
file in second work directory etc. If\r
no work directory is stated, the\r
current directory is used.\r
Source directory\r
The text string 'sourcepath' is used\r
in this connection. After this string\r
and a minus sign, a source directory\r
must be stated. This directory is\r
used as source directory until any\r
further 'sourcepath' is stated. The\r
source directory is used by Pass 1\r
and Pass 6. Pass 6 uses the source\r
directory when generating its object\r
file (stated by = object file).\r
As mentioned above, an RTP3502/\r
MSDOS compilation is performed by\r
execution of 5 programs, one for\r
each pass. The file RTP.BAT is an\r
example of a batch file performing\r
the full compilation job.\r
\r
Corrections and Enhancements\r
Pathlength has been changed from\r
30 to 80 characters.\r
\r
\r
Programs with more than 6000\r
definitions of names can now be\r
handled.\r
\r
A list file is introduced (option: list-\r
"filename").\r
\r
New $ directives are introduced:\r
     $linenumber=xxx\r
     $roundupline (* to nearest multi-\r
     ple of 1.000 *)\r
\r
Missing $ENDIF gives an error.\r
\r
Missing assign between type and (:\r
gives a warning.\r
\r
Redefinition of an object in an(other)\r
environment gives a warning.\r
\r
Initialization is not performed on\r
elements on the heap containing\r
system types, if the heap element\r
was not allocated due to lack of\r
memory.\r
\r
For identification of the target com-\r
puter the Target switch now takes\r
the following predefined values:\r
- i86\r
- TA\r
- RC3502\r
SW2103 takes the target switch va-\r
lue RC3502.\r
The target switch values RC5000\r
and PI3 are removed.\r
\r
For identification of the language\r
dialects the switch Language is now\r
defined and takes the following pre-\r
defined values:\r
- RTP\r
- RTP86\r
- RTP3502\r
- RTP2111\r
SW2103 takes the language switch \r
value RTP3502 .\r
The switch Compiler is removed.\r
\r
The following boolean switches are\r
now predefined:\r
- FALSE (value equals 0)\r
- TRUE (value equals 1)\r
\r
Limitations and Recommenda-\r
tions\r
The include file option is not imple-\r
mented.\r
\r
The size of the constant area for a\r
program must not exceed 32Kb.\r
\r
Memory requirements for RTP3502:\r
     Code 66,500\r
     Data 8,000\r
     Stack 65,000\r
     Heap 85,000\r
Above figures in bytes are fixed ex-\r
cept the heapsize, which depends on\r
the program compiled. The heap\r
figure applies for a typical 1500 line\r
program. The heap depends among\r
others on the number of names used\r
in the program, and the code size\r
employed. The heap size employed\r
may be written on the list file by\r
means of the option survey-yes.\r
\r
Installation\r
The installation of SW2103 is per-\r
formed by inserting the disk in a\r
drive, selecting that drive and typing:\r
     INST\r
This batch job will provide a guide\r
for installation of all files on the disc\r
onto a specific disc and directory.\r
\r
