This directory includes fig2latex, which translates Fig code into LaTeX
picture environment commands. Install this directory must be installed
as a subdirectory of the transfig directory. The directory fig2latex/fig_src
contains modifications to the Fig editor (Version 1.4 Release 2) which
add two line drawing modes, restricting lines to the slopes at which LaTeX
can draw lines and vectors.

Using these modes to draw lines and vectors, and avoiding objects which
LaTeX cannot draw (eg. splines), the user can produce figures which Fig2latex
will translate accurately into LaTeX picture mode. If it cannot handle some
object, Fig2latex prints an error message.

To modify Fig, move the source files in fig_src to the Fig source directory.
The code in fig_src was derived from Fig 1.4 Release 2, and is incompatible
with other versions. The file fig_src/DIFFS lists the differences between
our modified and unmodified Fig source code. The file fig_src/FILES lists
the changed and new files.

Fig2latex was developed by Frank Schmuck of the Cornell Computer Science Dept.
