The SAVE*.* files represent an actual session on a VAX 8550 running
Ultrix applied to METAFONT 1.5. These were checked against the SCORE*.*
files found on this same directory. This has been done
so that output resulting from the use of the Makefile in this
directory will be almost byte-for-byte identical with
the SAVE*.* files.

Purists may wish to check things against the SCORE files as well.
These result from a trap session on a TOPS20 machine. The differences
are insignificant, and are all of the class that is specifically
exempted from consideration in the ``A Torture Test for METAFONT''
manual, which you will find in trapman.tex.Z. (It is
in compressed form.)

In order to make the full set of tests under the makefile,
it is necessary to redirect the inputs, which come from
Unix_trapin?
These inputs will not show up in the *.fot files, but they
are correct according to the more reliable *.log files.

The two runs of trapmf are tee'ed so that you can see the
output on the screen as well as on the *.fot files.

The following environment variables will probably have to be set:

MFINPUTS=.:/usr/lib/mf/inputs
MFBASES=.:/usr/lib/mf/bases
