MUSBUS
This test was designed by Ken J. McDonell at the Monash Universi-
ty in Australia, this is the 5.2 release with our modifications
for portability reasons. It's a very good benchmark. We have sup-
pressed the CPU and the system parts which are best treated in
other tests but we have kept the essential: the disk throughput
and the multi-user simulation. We compile, create the directories
and the workload for each simulated users, and execute the simu-
lation 3 times by measuring cpu and elapsed time. The workload is
constituted by 11 commands (cc, rm, ed, ls, cp, spell, cat, mkdir
export, chmod and a nroff-like) and 5 programs (syscall, randmem,
hanoi, pipe, fstime). This is a very complete test which is signi-
ficant of the CPU speed, C compiler and Unix quality, file system
performances and multi-user capabilities, disk throughput and me-
mory management implementation.
