If you do not have a fontdesc file: % cd ../misc % cp fontdesc /usr/local/lib/tex/fontdesc or to whatever directory you wish. % emacs /usr/local/lib/tex/fontdesc to suit your site: declare what kinds of fonts you have on your system, their location, and how to search for them. The "%f" stands for the fontname (e.g., "cmr10" or "cmsy7"). The "%m" stands for the value of magnification (e.g., "300"). Be sure that the paths you define in this fontdesc file accurately reflect the organization of fonts on your machine.
