MAP Galactic Bloodshed MAP NAME [0] map -- Cartesian coordinate map of planet's surface SYNOPSIS map [path] DESCRIPTION The map command gives a sector map of the planet in [path]. If [path] is not a planet, map will instead use orbit (see orbit). You cannot map a planet that has not been explored by you. These are the different types of terrain: '-' -- Unexplored wilderness or undeveloped land '^' -- Mountainous area (more resources, less fertility) '.' -- Area containing water '~' -- Gas (such as might be on a gas giant planet) '%' -- Wasteland (uninhabitable) ' ' -- (Under certain circumstances the sector may be blank) In addition are the designations that map gives the player: 'x' -- Area owned by the player '?' -- Area owned by another player 'sbdfgetz' -- a ship of that type is landed on the sector '|' -- Area that has been developed to 100% efficiency (steel plated) --------------- THE PLANETS ----------------- There are four basic types of planets. On the average, sectors closer to water have greater fertility than sectors farther away, which have greater resource deposits. Gas Giant Type This type of planet is mostly a large ball of uninhabitable gas. Airless or Asteroidal Type These are planets too small to hold an atmosphere, or have had it stripped off by natural or artificial disaster. They consist of land and/or mountainous sectors, with high resource deposits and comparatively low fertility.
